It's the Skirt Season

Assalamualaikum everyone. May all of you are always in peace and blessings from Allah Ta'ala. I'm a bit sleepy now maybe after I consumed a glass of vico (a cocoa mix). After trying to focus on my current project, translating a Malay yearly report into English, I think I'll take a short rest and play with Polyvore.

My current mood is SKIRT! So, I'm gonna put some sets that contain skirt in them. I don't have specific trend/occasion but just putting anything that comes to mind. Let's see those sets ok.

NO. 1

NO. 2

NO. 3

NO. 4

NO. 5

I know not all of us likes to wear skirt and prefers pants or jeans. What I'm saying is besides wearing the abaya, this is the UNDER THE ABAYA clothes for me. FYI I don't own any JEANS... LOL because I've never have the need to wear it. And I believe all the 8 girls in my family (my siblings, my mom and a SIL) do not own any jeans. Hehehe... we are a family of Malay Traditional Baju Kurung wearing girls. And of course SKIRTS.

Everyone can wear skirt because it is loose and comfy. Also, it can be styled to different occasion depends on the type of skirt that you can get. AND... get a LONG SKIRT not a knee-high skirt or anything shorter than that. To ensure that it can covers the aurah nicely, the material should be rather opaque. And match it with a loose long sleeves top which also falls below your bum.

That's it. My skirts sets.

Hijab for my sisters & mom

Assalamualaikum and salam Jumuah, everyone. Peace and blessings of Allah to all of you for being such a good friend, readers and my visitors to this blog. Since yesterday I was only blogwalking to some blogs without writing any new updates.

Actually I'm participating in the State Bookfair and my life is kind of jumbling around 5 different places: home-library-bookshop-bookfair-university and all that made me quite drain when I get home every night. I did managed to update one of my blogs but I feel quite sad for neglecting this one.

Now, yesterday as it happened I was in town to attend to a few personal and business task. While bringing along one of my niece, I have to circle around town twice before i get a parking space. Hmm... our town is getting pack when weekend is coming. At the same time there was a Mega Sale Carnival so close to my parking. My niece was begging me to buy her pizza and I managed to bought 2, one regular and the other big.

In the hot wheater, we walked to Dinie Amudi Enterprise to buy some hijabs. Actually my sister asked me to buy them for her. She's one busy O & G doctor who got no time to shop. If she's home, it's time with the kids and sleeping.

So, I bought 10 hijabs, 7 for her, 2 for her daughters and 1 for me. Below is the pic of 6 of her hijabs. They are all 58 inches, a bit smaller than mine.

The green one is mine. Look at the differences in size. Mine is as usual, 60 inches wide. And it's very CHEAP!

Because there's some deformity on the threads. Anyway you can't see it after I styled it on my head.

That's how big my hijab is after you folded it twice.

Compare it to this one, way smaller. Oh, this one is FOR SALE! My sister does not want this one so... anyone interested? It's only RM17.00.

The hijab brand is AKEL. The material is REALLY SOFT. My favourite material so far.

And lastly, my latest pic wearing one of my newest hijab.

By now. I've got to go to the bookfair.

Current Reading

Assalamualaikum.

Last week I bought this book at the airport bookshop. Found it rather interesting although I already have a few titles on the same issue. Well, one can never ignore something like this when one is a book lover and also interested in Islamic fashion.

Generally, it's very easy to read because the content is written in pointed numbers. For example under part 2 the discussion about Women's Clothes start with no 1 until 18 and continue with discussion about Hijaab and Purdah at no 19 and so on. This can be a book for a light and easy reading. Ones do not need to ponder upon certain things so much, just take your time.

Enough said, I'd like to quote some points under the later topic. This is 100% copied from the book. Just to share and would like to hear opinion from you.

HIJAAB AND PURDAH

19. Hijaab (Arabic and Urdu word) and Purdah (Persian, Urdu and English word) means separation between males and females. Free mixing of sexes is Haraam (strictly forbidden) in Islam.

20. Mixing of sexes is only allowed:
a. Amongst the Mahareem;
b. Due to necessity, such as, medical treatment and emergency

21. When a Muslim woman, whether young or old, has to go out of the house for a valid reason and necessity, it is Wajib (compulsory) on her to follow the Qur'aanic instructions and the teachings of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam as stated below:
a. She must cover her entire body, head to feet, with a thick and loose outer garment (Qur'aan 33:59).
b. She should put on a veil. The veil should cover the hair (including the plaits and ponytail), ears and the neck, and it should extend to the breasts.
c. She should not apply perfume when going out. Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said the woman who perfumes herself and passes through a group of people so that her scent reaches them, is like the person who commits unlawful sex.
d. She should not go out wearing attractive clothes and with cosmetics, such as nail polish, lipsticks, eye shadow, mascara, blushers etc.
e. She should not wear jingling (sound making) ornaments, such as anklets (Qur'aan 24:31).
f. She should not wear clothes for show and self publicity.
g. She should keep her eyes down, that is, not to stare at ghair-Mahraam (Qur'aan 24:31).
h. She should not leave the house without the prior permission of the husband, parents or guardian. If she has to travel more than 48 Islamic miles, or go on a journey of one day and one night or more, then her husband or a Mahraam should accompany her. (A proper Mahram is one who has reached puberty and is God-fearing).
i. She should not speak to a ghair-Mahram in a sweet and soft tone. The talk should always be necessary talk and business-like (Qur'aan 33:32).
j. She should not walk in a manner which invites attention.

This book is written by Rashid A. Diwan and published by Adam Publishers & Distributors. I tried looking for his profile on the net but to no avail. Just for a better judgement and reference.

Found a new hijab store, sooooo cheap!

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. Alhamdulillah I'm back on blogging after being sick for a few days. I'm a person who seldom stay at home without doing anything constructive or going here and there. To take a leave because you have a cold and your body is hurting all over makes me feel so bored after the first day. On Friday, I went to my tutorial classes in a very good health but that night, fever start rising up and the day after I start feeling bad. That whole day & night, I can't even relax comfortably and remembering a suggestion from some friends to drink warm water with a table spoon of honey, I just did that. By Sunday, I start feeling better except for the cold. And my sister who is my doctor prescribe another day leave and boring is a word that I don't want to know.

That's the summing up of my life from Friday until now. Insya-Allah I'll be back in the office by tomorrow. And starting from tomorrow until May 31st, my bookshop will be participating in a State Bookfair. Many friends have been advicing me to take a lot of rest and take good care of myself especially in this early stage. I hope they won't worry but please pray for me and this pregnancy will be safe until due date. Insya-Allah I'll make a formal announcement about that early next month. Someone would say, "what for when you've been hinting here and there?" Well, I'm still has not make the needed examination because of certain reason and my doc say that it would be better to wait until the end of this month. So, that's it.

Mean while, I've got good news! Last week before I got the fever, I went to town for some errands regarding our office building at the local municipal council. After the business was settled, I took some time to look around the place I parked my car and there was this shop, I think it's new because I've not notice it before or maybe because I seldom park there I miss it. It's a HIJAB HEAVEN! The shop is full with all kind of hijabs, big and small.

And the BEST OF ALL is that, they are having SALE for 60" hijab. LOOK what I've got for me. 5 stripey hijab for only RM9 each. SOOO CHEAP! And I also bought a brown printed AKEL hijab for only RM20, the material is so soft. I always like AKEL because the material is so soft. And another one is a maroon hijab for only RM17.

Anyone interested, I can help you get them.

Class has started

Assalamualaikum everyone... peace and blessings for our beloved prophet, Nabi Muhammad s.a.w. And happy night to all of you.

First and foremost, I'd like to thank all of you who have come for a visit and leaving messages for me while I'm not around. My class for May semester has started today and I have to attend 3 classes, 2 on Friday and 1 on Saturday on every week 1 and 3 of every month until the end of July. Actually... I have been online in between classes but can't write anything or respond to your messages because I'm easily feel tired this days. It was tiring to drive from home to my university and this is the time when I wish I have a chauffeur, hehehe. And the sore throat and cold is starting too. All make me want to just lie down and rest with a good book.

After my afternoon class I went to KF Collection to collect Stylomom's dress that was suppose to be collected yesterday but yesterday I was more tired than today after a busy morning schedule at my bookshop and some errands at the town. So ... I slept for almost 3 hours after Zuhr (end result - I can't sleep early last night although I tried so hard).

That's all I can write about my day. Before I pen off, let's see what I've wore yesterday and today and some dresses that are sold at KF Collection.

Yesterday's attire - a blue Indonesian abaya with my fav grey hijab. The mirror in OPTIMO Boutique makes me looks like a dwarf. LOL

And this is today's attire - a light green abaya and a matching printed hijab.

And these are some of the items that can be found at KF Collection.

The black blouse is under stock clearance, price reduce from RM60 to RM25. Size 46, only 1 left.

p/s: Alexandreya, there's a white KEBAYA of size L that is under stock clearance. If it is your size and you are interested, I can help you get it. It's the white one in the 2nd pic.

The newest arrivals - abayas. I've bought the one on the left.

My Word is THINK

Saw this quiz in oOUmmHasanOo's blog and I decided to try it. She got LOVE as her word and I got this:

You see life as an amazing mix of possibilities, ideas, and fascinations.
And sometimes you feel like you don't have enough time to take it all in.

You love learning. Whether you're in school or not, you're probably immersed in several subjects right now.

When you're not learning, you're busy reflecting. You think a lot about the people you know and the things you've experienced.

TRY THE QUIZ

Masha-Allah! Almost like the truth. What about you?

Hijab Styles Compilation

Assalamualaikum to all my dear friends and readers. Thanks for dropping by KakChik's Wardrobe and hopefully there's something interesting here for you. I pray that all of us are always in good health and under the mercy of Allah Ta'ala.

2 days ago I wrote a post about 2 nice hijab styles and an acquaintance asked me what's the magazine that I referred. Here it is... NUR Seleksi 88 Ikatan Tudung which is only RM10.90. You can buy this from my bookshop, MariBaca. If you are interested to have it as your collection.

Let's take a look at some of the styles featured inside the magazine.

This one (pic below) is for the wedding attire.

Actually the magazine is devided into 4 section featuring hijab styles suitable for:
  • office
  • casual
  • dinner
  • wedding
And the BEST thing is they show the step by step of each styles. The not so best thing is this magazine is in Malay because it was published for the Malaysian market. However others also can benefit from this mag.

I have issues with some of the styles because for me they are not really covering the aurah properly. For example, styles that do not cover the chest area. However, if you are creative and know how to improvise, I think you can still use this as a guide and create your own styles.

For me, always try to be ORIGINAL and UNIQUE (this is my motto for Polyvore, hehehe).

Nice Maxi

This is Leya Az-Zahra a Chinese Muslim revert. She's not a celebrity. Just a normal girl like us.

I saw her picture in a local Muslimah magazine, ANIS. She was featured in a section about Mualaf.

The mag usually styled their guest with sponsored clothes and I think what Leya's wearing is one of them. The style looks sweet.

In Malaysia this type of dress/maxi is suitable with the current warm weather.

I like the yellow and white combination.

Looks fresh and cheerful.

I would wear this kind of maxi but with a longer & bigger hijab to cover up the shape of the arm that was caused by the rather fit long sleeves inner.

Or maybe I just add on a jacket but... it will be hot and sweaty. So back to the first choice.

What about you? Do you wear maxies?

And this is my suggestion:

I Like These Hijab Styles

Assalamualaikum to all dear friends and visitors. Alhamdulillah, it is another cheerful morning although I'm a bit sad because I've just sent one of our maid (Bibik Aisyah) home to Medan this morning. She'll be home for 10 days to visit her sick Mom. I wonder how's my Mom's doing at home right now with an infant and 3 preschoolers. They're my nieces & nephews, staying at our family home. Mom is not in a very good health herself but she still insist on looking after the kids provided that my sisters lend her their maids. I hope she'll do fine with the help of Bibik Seri.

Yesterday, as I was cleaning one of my junk boxes, I found my long lost magazine of Hijab Styles which was published a few years ago. Alhamdulillah... I thought it was lost forever. There are a few styles that I find really hijab appropriate and aurah compliance. Here are two of them.

Sweet and lovely the way the model wrap her hijab. Would you be interested in trying this styles? I kind of captured the pic of every steps with my Canon iXus i7 and you can see them below.

FOR THE FIRST STYLE

You will need:
  1. a big long shawl/shayla preferably chiffon
  2. a matching underscarf
  3. brooches - 1 small 1 hijab pin

FOR THE SECOND STYLE

I'm sorry for the lack of explaination for each of the pic. I forgot to bring the mag to work and I can't explain by myself. For now, just try to figure out yourself. Insya-Allah I'll update this afternoon with them.

OH, CLICK ON THE IMAGE FOR A BIGGER PIC.

I need a new sandal

Assalamualaikum dear friends and visitors, may all of us are having the best time of our life and alhamdulillah that we can still breath the air and feel the wonders of Allah's creation.

It's another hot yet cloudy day here in Kota Bharu. From the side windows I can see our gardener is cutting the grass and cleaning the backyard of the Library. Smokes are coming out from a pile of rubbish that he's set on fire at one corner of the wide backyard. Hmm... he's not suppose to do that, I might have a talk with him later.

Ok, back to the topic above. My beloved sandal cannot fit my feet anymore. I don't know why. Feels like my feet is growing a bit. I always wear a size 4 sandals or shoes but this few days, my feet would be sore after using that sandal. So... I went looking for a nice new sandal. The one that is comfortable for my feet and looks nice. I did find a few interesting ones but none has size 4.

I really fell for this sandal from nautifit but it's a disappointment because they only have the last pair in size 5. Yes, it's the one that I tried. Even though I love it so much, I wouldn't buy it because it would be a waste. It's too big for my feet and can make me fall down.

It does look nicely fit in this pic because I push my foot to the front but there's almost 1 inch free space at the back. Not nice & not comfortable at all.

Looks like, I have to browse at another shop then. In this current mood, I don't think I'll be very fond of walking around anywhere even though I love shopping. Maybe I should look online.

Any suggestion for Malaysian Online Shoes Shops?

I bought the black one.

Assalamualaikum to all dear readers. May all of us are in good health and enjoying our weekend (although it's my working day).

Do you still remember the white dress that I've posted about it a week ago? Yes, the one I've mentioned here. Well, hehehe... I got me the BLACK ONE two days ago. I haven't decided yet whether I'll keep it or not. But if anyone interested to buy it from me I'm going to sell it at the same price I bought it. It's size 40 and there's a pic down below of me trying it out at the boutique.

The tunic and the matching skirt. My room was quite bright so the pic turn out to be like this. It's a beautiful black by the way.

The balloon sleeves is not really my type but this one is okay. Since the material of the cloth is quite sheer, it is layered nicely. There's a zipper at the left side of the tunic.

The sequins are not hand-sewn. It is already sewn by machine that produce the material. The PRICE is RM149. I wasn't planning to buy it but I did. This is my weakness. I can't turn down a beautiful dress which is MY SIZE and it's REALLY HARD TO FIND. Assume as an investment, hahaha.

This is how it looks like when I try it. Sorry for the bad quality of the pic. I used my Nokia 6120c to capture it and the mirror is not that clean too.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

ON THE OTHER HAND

I WON AGAIN! This time for a 2nd Place. The contest was organized by Muslim Fashionista entitled ACTIVE FASHIONISTA! And this is my entry set.

Wassalam.
