Sharing: The Nakedness of Muslim Women

Satan was created to tempt and mislead the Ummah of Muhammad (s.a.w.). It began the moment he (Satan) was expelled from Paradise. His unfinished duty is to mislead mankind right up to the Day of Judgement. In tempting mankind, Satan makes use of all kinds of approaches which he uses. By making use of human desire, which no doubt is inclined towards bad and evil conduct. Satan seems to know our inclinations and does his very best to make sure that mankind leaves the boundary that has been established by Allah, which includes the “hijab” or Muslim woman´s attire.

Allah has stated that women can attain entry easily into both heaven and hell. As a result of this, Satan enjoys tempting women. This is because women possess nine parts of desire and one part of intelligence. Beginning with the smallest of things to the biggest of sins, Satan undertakes to tempt them.

It begins with the abandoning of the “hijab”. At this level, Satan whispers to women that whatever clothing, including the “hijab”, it has no relationship with religion, as it is only a matter of clothing or ornament to women. As such, there is no clothing according to Shari´ah in whatever forms except that it is clothing. Just how does Satan go about organizing his strategy to cause Muslim women to abandon their “hijab”?

The first step is to expose their hands. As we all know that palms of the hands are already exposed, so Satan whispers to women that there is some form of improvement, meaning to open up the arm right to the elbow. “Ah, there is nothing wrong with that, after all you are still wearing the “jilbab” (garment covering the base of the neck) as well as wearing a gown?” Thus whispers Satan, and it is true that in the end women will end up wearing something new which exposes the arms. And it is also a fact that men look upon it as something normal. Thus Satan whispers, “I told you nothing would happen?”

The second phase is to get the chest and neck exposed a little but how? It begins by wearing something fashionable and new, where a little of the neck and chest is exposed through the “V” neckline. The argument is that it provides some air circulation and does not cause one to feel hot. Satan says, “Try it! No one is going to bother, because only a small section does it.”

What is even more interesting is the term “wearing clothes but still naked”. In an attempt to follow current trends the argument is to always look “cool”. Satan will provide ideas so that one will purchase cloth that is flimsy, and to make a tight fitting dress following the contours of the body, so that one looks more attractive and beautiful to the eyes. Thus do women become tempted to seek tight fitting flimsy clothing which is also transparent. “Most probably there will be no problem with it because the dress is still lengthy, the difference is only the fashion, and at least one looks feminine,” so goes the justification. In the end it becomes a trend amongst Muslim women, and with each passing day, the tighter and transparent the dress becomes, thus fulfilling the Prophet´s statement where he said, “Women with clothing are naked”.

After that Satan tempts women to open up a part of their clothing, which is tight so more can be seen and to look even more “cool” and “vogue”. This is easily done by whispering in their hearts, “Wear such clothes makes it difficult to walk or sit, its too tight, however, if a slit is made from the foot to the knee, or near towards the thigh, it must surely be easy and nice.” The idea is made practical, and no doubt, through such an act it has made the garment more comfortable and spacious, especially when sitting or getting into a car. As if to say that there is nothing wrong in seeing a little, what is important is our happiness!

This is how Satan desires to bring about nakedness in Muslim women. However, he is not content with that and prepares new strategies. The theory that is used is to “make every approach lawful”. If just now it was temptation to slit one´s clothing, now it is more advanced, to expose one´s self right up to the thigh. Satan is indeed pleased at the sight of such, when Muslim women follow him. This is further strengthened by the statement that such clothing is far more easily available in comparison to clothing that covers the whole body. As such, it becomes common to see part of a woman´s calf wherever you go.

One wonders whether a women reflects upon this? Does not such clothing lead to slander amongst the descendents of Adam? The response of Satan is, “Ah…that was ages ago, today, men like looking at women more exposed in their apparel.” Men in turn will only goggle at the sight and say, “ooh” or “wow”. Is this not the fashion of the night market or established shopping mall that promotes such clothing to women in accordance with the time.” Thus does such clothing become normal so much so that there is no one to question it anymore.

The final step before Satan celebrates his glorious success is to make the clothing of a Muslim woman into a mini. What this means is that everything become short, tight and in simple terms “cool, vogue, trendy, modern etc”. Once that form of clothing becomes a daily event and is considered normal, Satan will then whisper something else. “Apparel needs to possess variations, don´t only wear the same thing. Now it´s the mini-skirt, which also requires that the hair is exposed, so that it looks beautiful.”

In this way the mini skirt, where the thigh downwards can be seen, is worn with a variety of blouses, some of which expose the arms, expose the chest and the whole buttocks. Apparel collections come in all kind of trends, some are for festive occasions, social events, for work, official events etc, not overlooking very short trousers, colourful fashionable hairdos, they all have been tried. Such is the situation where something begins as being rather odd to be performed, but becomes acknowledged if it has been beautified by Satan, and which then becomes accepted by mankind.

In the past there was this idea to swim in a swimming pool or at the seaside, where all women only cover two parts of their body, namely their busts and their private part. Everyone knows what a “bikini” is, thus fulfilling the goal mentioned earlier of witnessing “women in the state of nakedness”.

Such is the fineness of approach applied by Satan, thus causing mankind to fall into his trap without them being conscious of it. Therefore it becomes the responsibility of all Muslims to develop firmness of Iman so as to be free from such temptations. Do not allow indefinitely such because if you do so and allow it to become normal, that which is serious will become difficult to overcome. To permit them to expose themselves in such a manner means to willingly allow them to incur the wrath of Allah. Pity them, save these Muslim women, do not ensnare them towards destruction which is full of torment, be it in this world or in the hereafter.

Understanding "Fashion" In Islam

My schedule for today is a bit tight so I want to re-publish an article which I found in YADIM's website. It's very good to broaden our view and understanding regarding the meaning of fashion in Islam. Let's have take a look.

Islamic Fashion.

Recently The STAR (Magazine section) published an article titled: "Fashionable" dated 12 April, 2009. The contents of this article highlight several aspects of ignorance involving the Islamic perception of “fashion”.

Islam is a "Way of Life" and it is governed by Qur´anic injunctions which forms the framework and basis upon which life is established. Take for example the way women should dress. In Surah Nur verse 31 several aspects have been instituted by Allah. These include having an outer garment over an existing one, indicating loose clothing; clothing that does not reveal the contours of the body.

Though there are various interpretations to this verse, the Shafi´e School of Islamic Thought (Madhab) permits the face to be exposed, it being the highest state observed while performing prayer.

Other aspects of the verse refer to the lowering of one´s gaze and who one can mingle with. What is most significant here is that "they should not stamp their feet so as to reveal what is in their inner garments", a clear indication of loose clothing.

On the basis of this verse we can say that that it establishes the framework on how Muslim women should dress. This basic outline establishes “Islamic Fashion”. As for women dressing in black or any specific colour, well, that is a matter of choice. There is no such thing that you must dress in black, a perception often projected and believed to be Islamic. However, the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) has said that a woman should not dress in a manner so as to attract attention to herself, which in brief could make her look like a whore.

Many Muslim women think that they are dressing in accordance with Islam when they wear the headscarf (or ‘tudung’) and cover themselves, but in truth they fail the test when they sport tight fitting clothing which details the outline of their bodies, a clear prohibition in Islam.

How the Pakees, Afghans or Malays dress culturally is something else. It may not necessarily comply with Islamic requirements completely. Often we also find a lot of cultural practices undertaken in the name of Islam to be downright unIslamic.

As for the statement made by Marina Mahathir that “Dressing in Islamic fashion does not make you a better Muslim than the one who does not,” she is both right and wrong. She is right in one aspect because we do come across many Muslim women who do dress in accordance with Islamic rules but are not necessarily righteous Muslims. However, she is wrong because a woman needs to cover herself in accordance with Qur´anic requirements regardless of whether she is a righteous Muslim or not. There are Muslims who do not observe any other aspect of Islam but they still perform their prayers, so are we going to say that they are not good Muslims? Are we going to say that prayer is obligatory while dressing up in accordance with Islamic requirements is not? This is a distortion of Islam. Many make the mistake of referring to Islam as a matter of the heart (internal) when in fact it is a combination of externalities and internalities.

Marina is also wrong when she questions the Qur’an when she says, “Whether the Qur’an gives us fashion guidelines? No, it just tells us to behave modestly. God is beyond fashion.”

If the verse quoted by me above is not related to fashion or the way a Muslim woman should dress then what is? Such remarks usually come from those who do not comply with the rules of covering their heads or dressing in accordance with Islam. These are “self justifications” and which can be quite misleading and a form of corruption against divine injunction.

As Muslims, we should try to understand the wisdom behind every command from Allah and if we are unable to abide by it, then we should at least turn to Him for forgiveness and seek strength in Him so that we may be able to become better Muslims. This is what Islam is all about – the surrendering of one’s self to Allah.

Muslims should also be weary of the media because it is their goal to breed dissent amongst Muslims; to distort things and they succeed in doing so by making use of Muslims themselves. So one has to be weary of the press.

I've highlighted a few important points in the article which I think we should give more attention and thought. Whenever we read or heard something that might distort our believe in the Islamic teaching, please read carefully, try to make more research about it, ponder upon the matter, make conclusion and reflect than make improvement.

Thinking of Migrating

Yesterday, a notice arrived in my email box to renew the registration in order for me to maintain the ownership of the domain name. Hmm... I'm a dilemma.

I DIDN'T ASK TO BE BORN A MALAY, SAYS NIK AZIZ

KOTA BAHARU, 27 Feb (Bernama) -- PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat said today that he did not ask to be born a Malay. (He's also the Chief Minister of Kelantan, my homestate).

The Kelantan Mentri Besar added that it was only by coincidence that he was born in this country.

Nik Aziz said that it did not matter what community he was born into as long as he was a Muslim.

He was responding to a statement by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad that he should be grateful for being born a Malay because this meant that he would be Muslim.

Nik Aziz said that all races were the same, and what made a person special was that he was a Muslim.

He said that he was striving for Islam as a religion of moderation and was opposed to extremism which contradicted Islam.

My Mom is Not Well Again.

Assalamualaikum and good evening.

My Ummi and I while waiting for her monthly check-up at the university hospital.

Thanks a lot to everyone who keeps coming to this blog even though the owner is currently quite occupied with looking after a sick mother. My dear mom was hospitalized since early this morning because of food poisoning. Alhamdulillah, she is gaining her good health back after a thorough treatment at a local private hospital. My family decided to take her there for a better environment because she's a bit scared to stay in public hospitals. Thank you to all friends who have send their du'as and well wishers. Insyaallah my mom shall be okay soon. My sisters and I will take good care of her.

I'm glad that my eldest sister is one of the resident doctor of that hospital and she's the one who brought my sick mom there and the rest of the family visited her in the afternoon. We want to let our mom to have a peaceful rest without her daughters and nieces pestering her. Alhamdulillah, my sister said that she managed to have a few hours sleep compared to none last night. Everyone was very happy with the progress and when we visited her at the hospital, she looks more livelier that before. Alhamdulillah wa shukurillah.

My mom is one person who's hates staying overnight at hospitals. She came home just before sunset provided that she no longer suffering from diarrhea and my sister-doctors will pay more attention to her well-being. As for me and the rest of the family, we will be her amateur massager. I know she's still not fully recovered yet and being stubborn as she is, she'll be showing us that she's okay. But do not worry, all of us already used to the tactic and we will just pretend that we are not worried. A mom is always a mom who will try her best to not let her children know how much she is suffering.

I love her. All of us love her. And we will always do our best to take care of our mom.

A Four Days Fashion Diary

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh.

It looks like I've been away so much lately. Since I haven't been blogging much, today I'd like to share with you 4 photos of my dresses which I've worn starting from last week's Sunday until Wednesday. My intention was to share a one week fashion diary, however I have work to do so the list will only be for 4 days. I hope you'll enjoy the sharing.

Sunday Style - Simple in Uniform

Most of you might know that I'm working on Sunday. Our local weekend days are Friday and Saturday but my workdays are Sunday until Wednesday and Saturday. Confusing for others but for me and my colleagues, it's normal because we've been used to the schedule since 7 years ago. That's how it work for us working at this personally owned public library in Kelantan. Anyway, on Sunday I have to wear my uniform. There are 3 different outfits; a jilbab coloured dark green (patterned), plain light purple jilbab (the one above) and an orange-brown batik baju kurung. Last Sunday, I wore the purple one matched with a black soft shayla from Qatar, a coach handbag and a simple black Ruccini shoes.

Usually I only wear something a bit colourful on Sunday and apart from that day, I am back to my black abayaat. As I was a bit busy on Monday I don't have much time to pose hence this photo of only my abaya. This is the bestseller abaya in my abaya shop, ABAYA ELEGAN. It comes in 3 different colours of embroidery and 2 different type of sleeves. You can have a look at ABAYA ELEGAN. I love wearing Layla Abaya because it suits any occasions be it to work, to dinner, to formal events, visiting friends or family, you name it. And the material will not make you sweat more than usual. It also falls down nicely over your body.

Tuesday is butterfly abaya day.

Ever since I discovered that a small petite person like me look ok wearing a butterfly abaya, I've bought 3 pieces custom made according to my size. Well, actually I can easily fit the size XS/50 which is the smallest size of Dubai abaya. Anyway, I love wearing this abaya especially the ones made by saharayusuf enterprise. They are very comfortable and make me feel really elegant and lady-like wearing them. In the photo above, I wear Haniza Butterfly Abaya matched with a simple silver lining shayla from Dubai, another Coach (imitation) handbag and I forgot which shoe that I have on.

This is my first abaya ordered from Indonesia. I don't really fancy Indonesian jilbab or abaya simply because I've seen so many of them in the local market which have a very shapely cuttings and straight cut. I do not like wearing a jilbab or an abaya that will show my body shape. For me it will loose the purpose of covering the aurah. However, for the first time, I saw this abaya from Laniz Collections in facebook. After several consultations, I ordered this. Alhamdulillah, the result is good.

Assalamualaikum dear friends and readers.

I believe all of us have a pile of photos taken and kept somewhere safe for us to have a look again and again. Same goes with me. I love going through my photo albums be it in a real life photo album or online. Those photos have captured many important moments in my life.

I call them my life history in pictures. Well, not really every part of my life history till now but ever since I have a digicam I've photographed lots of things and most of them involved my family. Looking at each photo always reminds me of the story of that day.

And among all them, I like this photo the best,

Beloved Hubby and his favorite niece, clever Amni.

I know mu husband also love this photo very much. It was taken 2 years ago when Amni was only one and half years old. I took lots of photos during their chat and this one came out the best because of the feeling and the bond between this two person that I love.

Oh, this makes me cry. I know my husband really misses Amni this days. He's working full time and Amni is already in kindergarten. Just now I saw him looking at this photo and he said, "I miss her". Yes, me too.

Be diligent and vigilant of your duties, don’t be negligent.
Be thankful to Allah and constantly pray to Him, don’t be forgetful of His innumerable blessings.

Finally as the righteous say, "The love of Allah is the axis around which all good revolves." If you fall in love with Allah, and then strive to be true in your love--in accordance with the way of the Beloved of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace), then you'll find nothing but increasing light and contentment in your life.

And Allah alone gives success.

Just an update

Assalamualaikum and happy Monday to all dear friends.

Thank you for all of you who drop by to read or just blogwalking to this blog. I really appreciate that and I'm also very glad that I have this blog to link myself to you. Some of you might be wondering what has happened to me lately. Well, I'm having a bit of a downturn mood recently hence the lack of writing or sharing.

I'm trying to find myself and my main purpose in life. I might be a bit slow in updating this blog because my focus would be more at my main blog, Keluargaku Sayang which also is suffering from my lack of attention. Insyaallah when I slowly gain my momentum back, more and more updates will be published and I hope they'll be beneficial to all of us.

A Drama Crazy Holiday

Assalamualaikum dan Jum'ah Mubarak.

It has been quite several days already after my last post. I was having quite a busy schedule for two projects concerning my businesses. So many things have happened during these few days and I seem to have not enough time to write anything here.

Anyway, I'm enjoying my Chinese New Year's holiday right now. Oh, Gong Xi Ni to all my Chinese friends especially Kak Aliya and Adawiah.

So.... I've been pampering myself with doing nothing important since yesterday. Staying at home and lazing around watching Korean Dramas online. I have not done this for such a long time and yesterday to amuse myself alone since Hubby was working, I watched 2 dramas.

Really drama crazy for a day. People would say I'm wasting my time but no... I'm not. I do house chores while doing that.

Enough with the dramas and I need to do constructive things after this. What would you suggest I do for the next 2 days? Apart from shopping.

In a 30-minute interview, Booth, also the sister-in-law of former UK prime minister Tony Blair, spoke with the New Straits Times on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and her role in Viva Palestina Malaysia, a local offshoot of the UK-based Viva Palestina, an international non-governmental organisation working for the speedy creation of a free Palestinian state.

Q: You’ve been an advocate for Palestine long before you were a Muslim. When did your opinions on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict change - was it during your first visit in 2005?

A: Yes, I had to see the conditions in Palestine for myself to realise what was happening. It’s not easy for people to understand the Israeli occupation from our (Western) media because (much of) it is hidden or confused. But when you’re there, the situation is clearly apartheid. In fact, as (South African leader) Desmond Tutu says, the Palestinian situation is worse than apartheid, and he should know.

Q: You’re here for the launch of Viva Palestina Malaysia where you met our former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. What do you think of him?

A: I very much liked Tun Dr Mahathir and his wife, Tun Siti Hasmah. It’s refreshing to see a former world leader who is dedicated not to making millions from oil, banks or occupations but to setting up foundations for righteous behaviour.

Q: He’s been labeled an anti-Semitic in the Western press due to his views on Israel. Do you agree?

A: If you speak to Dr. Mahathir, it is clear he has neither the personality nor the inclination to be an anti-Semite. He is a thoughtful, pious and philosophical man. I want to tell the people of Malaysia not to be scared of being labeled anti-Semitic when criticising the unjust, disgraceful behaviour of the Israel regime. The label ‘anti-Semite’ is applied deliberately to quash debate on the Israeli government and its army and we must not be afraid to speak out (on it).

Q: What more can NGOs like Viva Palestina do, apart from speaking out and sending aid, to help the situation in Gaza?

A: It’s becoming clear that what is needed now is a unified Palestinian government. Although NGOs aren’t allowed to be political, I would encourage them to invite (representatives from) Hamas, who may be ministers, and Fatah to come together, at least on foreign land, to see how they can work with both groups to help the Palestinian people and the cause of freedom. It can also serve as a movement which combines the Palestinian voices with the foreign solidarity cause, in a stronger, more productive manner.

Q: What part does Malaysia have to play in this process?

A: Malaysia’s absolutely pivotal in leading the way in the international arena towards the non-acceptance of the state of Israel. This is important because Israel has demanded its recognition and rights as a state, and yet in 63 years, it has given no assurances that they will in turn behave like one. Until it learns to do so - by accepting other people’s rights, acting within international law, ending the siege, stopping the ethnic cleansing of Jerusalem - every other state should copy Malaysia in not recognising Israel. And to add a proviso, that is not the same as saying every Jew should be pushed into the sea. I’m saying that (Israel) must behave like a state in order for it to receive the recognition it craves for its economic ties abroad. The international community invites Israel to do so so that we can welcome it and salute its people in a way that surely, some of them deserve.

Q: You’ve said before that you don’t like the term “moderate Muslim”. Can you explain why you find that term problematic and in what context?

A: I have a problem with the term “moderate Muslim” or “moderate Islam” because Islam is already a moderate religion. There are a billion (Muslims) in the world already practicing moderation in their lives, their jobs, their families. I have a problem with how the term is used in the West to divide Muslims into acceptable and unacceptable groups. You can’t be a moderate as well as a Muslim in the West if you feel strongly about politics or if you criticise the United States or Israel. You lose the label ‘moderate’ as soon as you speak up, which has the effect of stopping Muslims from having a political voice or a political position. We must all be moderate in our behaviour, but I do not accept the label ‘moderate’ if it means I can’t be political as well as a Muslim. I’d rather be labeled a radical right now, if it means I can air my views in solidarity with others.

Q: What are your immediate hopes for Palestine at the moment?

A: I hope that Israel not only eases the blockade but ends it now. The siege of Gaza has lasted longer than the siege of Leningrad, which was a crime of the second world war. My other hope right now is that President Hosin Mubarak is replaced and toppled, so that the people of Egypt have a greater voice in their government, and therefore, insyaallah, greater cooperation with Palestine in a way that will allow for freedom of movement as defined under Article 13 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Q: Where do you find keep finding the hope that a resolution to the conflict can be reached in the future?

A: I always have hope. Every time I go to the West Bank, or Gaza or Jerusalem, I see some of the most academically-inclined, clever, determined young people I’ve ever met. Two years ago in Jenin, out of the rubble of bomb attacks, I found talented young people learning photography, singing and the arts at the Jenin theatre. At the Jenin cinema, there are even talks of hosting a film festival. The young Palestinians amaze me. I’ve cycled around the West Bank with the only cycling team there, made up of wonderful young men who just wished to practice their sport. I’m confident, when there is peace, Palestine will blossom and flower as a state like no other.

I have goosebumps all over after watching this video. Mashaallah, what a spirit. Kudos to our Tunisian sisters and brothers who have gone a rally to have their rights to wear hijab. If you haven't watched the video, here it is.

We should be very thankful for the blessings that Allah has given upon us (Malaysianuy from there Muslims) to practice hijab freely in this country. In that case we should do our best to wear the proper hijab before Allah tests us like our sisters in Tunisia, a country where years ago I almost got engaged with a guy from there.

Gorgeous Akhawat Abayas But Way Too Expensive for Me

Akhawat - Abaya Couture is one of the many companies that sells abayas online and this company has chosen to use facebook as their medium. My first impression seeing its collection was, WOW! Yes, mashaallah, the abaya collection is really gorgeous.

Some are very simply designed but when you look at it, you see elegant, you see beauty and you see quality. All the characters that make me like the abayas. Just take a look at this one:

The design is very simple but upon looking at it I personally think this is a good quality abaya and very much my type. And look at this one too:

The contrasting colour between the main body of the abaya and the sleeves and also the shayla makes the abaya look so glamour but in a modest way. I like this type of design very much.

Frankly speaking, I love most of the collections BUT there is only one problem, they are very pricey. Yeah, what do you expect from designers abayas right? They have been designing and making those abayas from A to Z and how can they sell them below MYR300?

Hi, we meet again. Alhamdulillah. It means that Allah has given us another day, another opportunity to use this life as best as we can to gain more reward for our afterlife.

One way to do that is by working for the sake of Allah. In order to make our job as ibadah, our intention must be because of Him. That's why we are encouraged to say Bismillah before we start anything.

And the work must be halal.

Another thing which is related to making our job as an ibadah, I think we need to dress properly as a Muslim should. When I said proper, it means always remind our selves to choose suitable clothes so that when others see us, the first impression is, "She's a Muslim."

Better yet, "She's a pious Muslim."

Shopping for hijabs

Look at the hijabs around me.

Once in a while I need to drop by a hijab store nearby my workplace to place a bulk order. I love browsing through the many hijabs hanging on the wall and also on the rounding hangers that you can see standing beside me. Every time I visit this shop I wish I can spare more than half an hour to just look around. But my lunch hour is only one hour and driving to the shop and back to the office usually use 10 - 20 min. So, rush, rush.

It is a hijab heaven. The shop offers a variety of hijabs such as the common instant hijabs that are loved by many Malaysian women, all kind of shawls, pashminas, square hijabs big and small, and many different selection of inners/bonnets/underscarves. I went there to buy pashminas or big square hijabs.

This shop sells wholesale and it is my supplier for hijabs. I choose to sell only big size hijabs which I'm sure will give a wider coverage of our upper body. At least below the breasts. With the hope that my customers would wear the hijab bigger and longer.

Lots of big square hijabs for me to choose.

Selling Islamic clothing is good and it will be great if the clothing can help Muslim women to practice covering their body properly (according to the Islamic dress code for women). I always remind myself to only sell clothing which can make women look modest, feel modest. Modest in an Islamic way.

After choosing the hijabs that I want to order in bulk, I went home with this multicolored pashmina.

Just MYR20.00.

Insyaallah I'll be selling this kind of pashmina soon. The order has been made and now is the time to patiently wait for the shipment to arrive. Insyaallah.

Why I said "This is not hijab."

Assalamualaikum and good afternoon to all my dear friends, readers and visitors.

I keep thinking about a comment that was left under one of my latest Polyvore's style creation. It was quite long but the message is clear, the writer wants me to explain my reason for stating so boldly that this kind of fashion is not hijab.

Let's read her message once again. Shall we?

is it ok if u explain why some of the sets are not hijab? this will make people understand why it is not hijab. and i agree with you on this set. i remember seeing a girl and her mom at the mall and they are both wearing hijab. the mother was dressed fine, but the girl was wearing tights and a mini skirt. i got so mad. i know i don't wear a hijab, but i would never wear anything that short in public. only in front of my husband. i respect the women who wear the hijab right. and practice islam everyday. and they do good things with their attitude and their actions. some muslim women who wear a hijab smoke argilla and/or have boyfreinds, they go out at night with their friends. some women just have a bad attitude and are mean to everybody. that is not islam. anwayz, nice set, just please explain in each set why the sets you made are not hijab so that people can understand.

Firstly I'd like to thank the owner of the message who called herself by the name rollout4490 in Polyvore.com and I haven't written any reply to her yet.

Actually I created 3 sets which have the 'This is not hijab' wording on them. My intention for those sets are to include them in my entry in Keluargaku Sayang on the Aurah topic. I do not want to insert a real model photo so I made a few sets to portray the real thing. As I was in a hurry, I do not write any explanation in Polyvore because immediately after the sets were ready, I posted them in this (Cerita Pasal Tudung) entry.

Okay, I'm going to explain my reason for saying they are not hijab. First, let's read this 3 translations of ayah 31 from Surah Nisa' in our holy Qur'an,

024.031
YUSUFALI: And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards Allah, that ye may attain Bliss.
PICKTHAL: And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and be modest, and to display of their adornment only that which is apparent, and to draw their veils over their bosoms, and not to reveal their adornment save to their own husbands or fathers or husbands' fathers, or their sons or their husbands' sons, or their brothers or their brothers' sons or sisters' sons, or their women, or their slaves, or male attendants who lack vigour, or children who know naught of women's nakedness. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And turn unto Allah together, O believers, in order that ye may succeed.
SHAKIR: And say to the believing women that they cast down their looks and guard their private parts and do not display their ornaments except what appears thereof, and let them wear their head-coverings over their bosoms, and not display their ornaments except to their husbands or their fathers, or the fathers of their husbands, or their sons, or the sons of their husbands, or their brothers, or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or those whom their right hands possess, or the male servants not having need (of women), or the children who have not attained knowledge of what is hidden of women; and let them not strike their feet so that what they hide of their ornaments may be known; and turn to Allah all of you, O believers! so that you may be successful.

And let's also read the Islamic dress code,

Conditions of Muslim Dress Code
Clothing must cover the entire body, only the hands and face may remain visible (According to some Fiqh Schools).
The material must not be so thin that one can see through it.
The clothing must hang loose so that the shape of the body is not apparent.
The female clothing must not resemble the man's clothing.
The design of the clothing must not resemble the clothing of the non-believing women.
The design must not consist of bold designs which attract attention.
Clothing should not be worn for the sole purpose of gaining reputation or increasing one's status in society.

The reason for this strictness is so that the woman is protected from the lustful gaze of men. She should not attract attention to herself in any way. It is permissible for a man to catch the eye of a woman, however it is haram (unlawful) for a man to look twice as this encourages lustful thoughts.

Islam protects the woman; it is for this reason that Allah gave these laws. In today's society womankind is being exploited, female sexuality is being openly used in advertising, mainly to attract the desires of men and therefore sell the product. Is the woman really free in today's society? The answer is obviously no. The constant bombardment by the media as to how the ideal woman should look and dress testifies to this.

So... do you think I need to explain more? I think this is enough explanation for my claimed on those sets. I can make more but those 3 are some examples of what some of our sisters out there are wearing. It's rather difficult to advice others especially on their attire more so when they claimed it as hijab.

I hope this post manage to answer th friend's comment on my Polyvore set.

Under the abaya, you can absolutely wear anything as long as people outside cannot see them. If you happen to wear an open front abaya, just be careful with the clothe you choose to wear under it. If you wear tights, skinny jeans, leggings, sheer dress or short skirts, people may see it because when you walk, the abaya will surely close and open naturally.

Question:-

What is the age at which a woman should observe hijab from a boy – is it when he reaches the age of discernment or when he reaches the age of puberty?.

Answer:-

Praise be to Allaah.

Allaah says in the passage where He speaks of those to whom it is permissible to show one’s adornments (interpretation of the meaning):

“…or small children who have no sense of feminine sex”

[al-Noor 24:31]

If a child shows some awareness of a woman’s ‘awrah and starts to look at her and talk to her a great deal, then it is not permissible for a woman to uncover in front of him.

This varies from one boy to another in terms of natural disposition and in terms of the company that he keeps. A boy may have a greater interest in women if he sits with people who talk about them a great deal, and if it were not for that he would not be particularly interested in them.

What matters is that Allaah has set the guidelines for this matter when He said (interpretation of the meaning):

“…or small children who have no sense of feminine sex”

[al-Noor 24:31]

i.e., these are among the ones in front of whom it is permissible for a woman to show her adornments, if they have no interest in women.

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him), Majmoo’at As’ilah tahumm al-Usrah al-Muslimah, p. 148

Among the things which indicate that a child has started to be aware of a woman’s ‘awrah are the following:

- He describes women to others

- He can distinguish between a beautiful woman and an ugly one

- He compares the way women look

- He stares at women for a long time

Undoubtedly movies and soap operas, as well as social corruption, lead to children being aware of women’s ‘awrahs at an early age, so we have to be very careful. We ask Allaah to keep us safe and sound.

Assalamualaikum dear friends and readers.

I was not planning to update this blog yet but from nowhere, the idea came for me to say something about the topic above. I know, I might be one in a thousand people out there who's a niqabi and talking about fashion in her blog. I know a few niqabi friends who observe fashion just like other women, only that we observed and try to sort out which one is suitable for us, muslim women.

The most important consideration is, we can choose to be fashionable but with caution. What I mean is everything I put on my body should make me feel beautiful in front of Allah, my husband and myself. If others think the clothes I'm wearing are beautiful too, alhamdulillah and I hope they can wear the same clothes too.

I call this fashionable.

I like fashion and I also like beautiful clothes and things. It does not mean that when you are a niqabi and you wear black almost everyday you can't like fashion. Who says you can't? In my dictionary, fashion is part of my daily life. It's very important for me to be fashionable in an Islamic way. Modest, stylish, elegant and makes me feel great with myself.

In my opinion, when you like the clothes that you are wearing, you know that the clothes are following the Islamic dress code, you wear it cleanly, tidily and smartly, all these thing combined together make me feel great to face the world. At the same time it makes me happy that my clothes have inspired others to change for the best. I'm not saying I'm better than others but this confidence in presenting myself as a niqabi with a career and two businesses also came from the way I am dressed.

I'm comfortable like this.

There are fashion and there are fashion. Choose the one that can help Islam. The choice is in our hands and with knowledge and experience we can present ourself as an elegant niqabi fashionista (can I use that word?). Always be modest but not over the top and do not be too extreme.

Simple combination for a rainy day.

I'm tired so I just upload this photo. It was taken today's afternoon after I came back from town. It's been raining heavily since yesterday and I think it will keep going on until tomorrow. Some places have already flooded and my kampung's river is reaching the highest point. Somewhere people have to evacuate their home and move to some safe places. May Allah save us from any difficulties during this season. Take care.

This is just my random post. Rambling about a handbag.

I'm crazy about handbags as much as I'm crazy about abayaat.

That's me but it's ok because I can still control my nafs from buying every bag or abaya that I lay my eyes on. Don't worry. I'll be modest. Insyaallah.

But sometimes dream do come true.

Love the colour. Dark red is my favorite. Match it with a black abaya. Mmm... love it!

Love the size. Yes, size is important. I have lots of stuff to put in there.

Love the texture of the leather.

Love the price too. Just RM89 and lesser with a special discount.

It'll arrive in 2 weeks time.

Got to be patient and wait for the package to arrive at my door.

Now, let's get some sleep and dream on it.

Sunday Style: Uniform Day

Assalamualaikum.

Sunday was here again and as usual it's my uniform day. When you have to wear a uniform, it's not easy to change the style.

As today was quite a cold day with rain falling down since morning until afternoon, I think it would be good to add a long coat in my Sunday Style.

I managed to persuade dear hubby to snap my pic and here's how I look at the end of the day.

Excuse the untidy background. We just arrived home and my hijab was not very tidy anymore after we ate dinner at Hayaki Restaurant.

I wear the boots and carry this newest bag from Haatyai.

Assalamualaikum everyone. Happy 25th Muharram 1432 Hijri @ New Year 2011.

This will be my last entry for the year 2010. I think this is the year where I lost a bit of my enthusiasm in writing in KakChik's Wardrobe. I don't know what happen exactly but when I reflect, I think facebook has taken part of my blogging spirit. However, I'm still going to keep this blog in next year's important list. I love writing here and most of all I love the interaction with friends from everywhere on this earth.

Back to the topic above, I just want to share with you that I have a group in facebook which I named THE ABAYA LADIES (TAL). This group is a closed group and ladies who love abaya and have a facebook account have to make a request to join it. The purpose of the restriction is to prevent the group from fakes muslimah. Alhamdulillah, so far everything is doing alright.

TAL's members are mostly Malaysian and some of the are my facebook friends who happens to love wearing abaya. The rest are from other countries and also my customers. The objectives of this group as far as I'm concern are:

1. to make friends with muslimah who wears abaya, it's fun talking about our same interest.

2. to share Islamic knowledge and information

3. to share our knowledge about abaya; the material, the quality, the originality, the comfort, and such.

4. to gain comfort from friends who love the sunnah style.

A few months ago TAL has planned for a gathering in Kuala Lumpur but due to our technical difficulties, the event has to be postponed. At the same time Abaya Elegan was planning to have a gathering with its customers around Kelantan and as the creator of TAL and the owner of Abaya Elegan, I don't see any wrong to take an opportunity in organizing a gathering in Kelantan.

I've informed to all TAL members through the group's wall and in planned for the event. Alhamdulillah it was done this morning from 10 am until 12.30 am at Dar Nur al-Zahra' Islamic Community Library, Kota Bharu. With 5 members plus 3 new customers and 3 children, our gathering was fun and enjoyable. Thank you O Allah.

Insyaallah we'll planned for a bigger event in the coming months. This time around I hope our KL event will be a dream comes true. Thank you for all friends of TAL who came today. I know the best part of our meeting today were trying the abayaat and making friends. I hope I'm right.

Assalamualaikum dear readers and friends.

It's another busy day for me after the holiday. I have 3 different accounts to close and life has started to feel like I'm living in a war zone. Dateline... dateline... Well, it is my fault for not being one great accountant but a manageress who have to take over someone else job. Life has to go on and by the end of this week, all those accounts must be balanced and closed. May Allah bless me with clear mind and good health so that I can do this job very very well.

Anyway, enough talking about my work, let's take a look at what I have worn during my trip to Hattyai, Thailand. 3 days, so there were 3 different outfits. Here's the first one worn on the first day.

I'm wearing abaya C29 from Laniz Collection.

For the second day, I wore an all black abaya, with a side opening, a bit like a kimono. I don't know whether you can see it clearly or not.

And on the last day, I chose to wear the black with brown stripes jilbab which I have designed myself. It was custom made in 2000. Yes, the jilbab is already 10 years old but it is still in a good condition and I can still fit myself in it, alhamdulillah.

I know some muslimah like to wear pants when they are touring but for me abaya or jilbab is always suitable and easy for me to pray. We Malays like to wear 'kain sembahyang' for praying but I prefer praying in my clothes provided that I'm confident that is's clean.

So, it's up to you and your comfort to wear whatever you like. I don't have the authority to ask you to follow me. Remember, be comfortable in whatever we wear as long as we're sure that Allah will like it. Wassalam.

Last 3 days I was in Haatyai, Thailand with husband for a holiday. Actually it was a company family trip. And as a wife of one of it's staff, I'm lucky to have a free trip. Alhamdulillah. And these are some of the photos that I've selected to share here with you.

Dear readers,

After one year of selling abayaat online, I've came across and became friends with quite a number of abaya sellers who have their own online shops either in the blog world or through facebook.

Frankly speaking, I think more and more Malaysian Muslim women are buying and wearing abaya. Why would I say this? It's because many online boutiques are now have their own lines for abaya.

3 years ago I thought abayaat are only made in UAE or KSA. Now I know that they can also be made in Indonesia, Vietnam, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and also in Malaysia. The difference are quality of the material used, the suitability of the material with Malaysian weather and also the designs.

One reader has sent me an email saying that my blog has influenced her in changing her wardrobe from a daily pants + blouse to abaya and she's thinking of wearing the niqab but still not ready. Allahu Allah. I've never thought that I might influenced others. I hope Allah will look at my influence as something good for the ummah.

Nowadays, women can choose to buy abaya from many online shops which sell it. If you are interested, you can buy from my blogshop, Abaya Elegan or you can also buy from my friend's blogshops which I've listed under ABAYA & NIQAB.

I have one hope in selling the abaya, I want Muslim women to wear an elegant dress which also modest according to our Islamic Dress Code. An the abaya has that package.

I need a new shoe

Assalamualaikum and good morning everyone!

Lovely day so far and I hope where ever you are, you are also experiencing a bright and sunny day just like me here. I'm so thankful because my washing this morning will be dried nicely, insyaallah. And I don't know how long the weather will stay like this, so better be thankful for the current condition.

Ok, back to the topic. Yesterday afternoon I use my lunch hour break to visit a shoe store nearby. I am in really need of a new shoe. A shoe which is practical for going to work and can withstand my heavy walking. The current one that I'm still using is starting to wear out and loosening which also result in an ache under my feet.

Well, that store have lots of good looking shoes and a few did captured my eyes but they just couldn't match the comfortability of the old one. Hmm... I do have my ankle boots but I just couldn't wear it everyday especially when I have to take if off when I want to enter the Library. It's our custom to take off our shoes to enter the building. So, like I said, I need a practical one.

I'm really tempted to buy shoes online especially when I just discovered ChristyNg.com but they don't have the kind of practical shoes like the one above. Or... should I just visit Rorine Store? Maybe they have new designs which are more comfortable? But... I don't have that much time to spare to go there. This is a dilemma and I'm afraid the one that I'm wearing is going to lost it's sole soon.

Maybe I need to persuade dear husband to go to Parkson this afternoon after work. Hehe... who knows he might buy a pair for me.

Assalamualaikum and good afternoon everyone.

Alhamdulillah, I'm back! The health condition is almost 100 percent alright and my life just continue with the usual busy schedule. This time, the fever just need more time to heal and I was bedridden for nearly 3 days. Maybe the cold weather with the heavy downpour play a big role in making my metabolism so low. However, I'm glad that with love, encouragement and care from my beloved family, I am now healthy.

3 parcels of abayaat have arrived during my sick leave which means I have lots of works going on whenever I feel a bit healthy. Checking the stocks, packed them for customers who have already paid, speed post them and sometimes make mistakes too. Apart from that, I took pictures of the abayaat that will go into my READY STOCK album and etc.

Anyway, while I was busy with all that, I have neglected this blog again and again. I feel so guilty. Please forgive me my dear friends and readers. You should scold me for being this lazy. After the sickness, it seems like I am slow in regaining my energy and enthusiasm in blogging. Ideas are a bit difficult to come and when I have a good one, it just stuck on the way during writing.

So, hopefully, I'll be able to get back my spirit in blogging.

May Allah bless all of you with good health and strong eeman. I am really sorry to neglect again this blog for more than a week. An eventful week.

Starting with the Eid holidays for 4 days - I was quite busy with family matters and a sick husband. I was supposed to go to my convocation on Nov 20th but it does not happen. A bit sad but it's okay because I get to look after my husband properly.

Then, Cheng Ho Expo started and as I've already sign up to join the exhibitors booth, I gathered the help of my wonderful sisters:- Kak An, Adik and Adneen to maintain my Abaya & Books booth. It was really a great event because this is the first time the State Government organized such exhibitions. There're lots of photos taken and I've already shared them here:

Actually, I haven't seen the actual exhibition yet because of my busy situation at the booth but insyaallah there is still time to see it at Kelantan Trade Centre because the exhibition is extended until Dec. 21st. If I'm healthy I want to visit KTC this weekend.

Beautiful folk dancers from Xhinjian, China visited my booth. They're here to perform during Ladies Nite.

One day after the event ended, I was attacked by influenza. And right now I'm still suffering from watery nose and mild coughing. I know, this might be the after effect of the hectic schedule during the expo and the not very healthy food that was consumed. Insyaallah I'll better in a few days.

I am at work but my boss allows me to rest because of this fever. Got to have a nap now. Thanks for dropping by and read the blog.

Alhamdulillah for the blessings that Allah has bestow upon me. There are lots of things that I truly feel grateful especially when it's Jumu'ah morning. It's great to breathe the morning air of Jumu'ah which always make me feel so thankful and wonderful. Thank you Allah for giving me another day on this world. Insyaallah I'll fulfill it with many good deeds.

As I was doing my morning routine which consist of boiling water, prepare our breakfast, checking the emails and messages on facebook, I login to youtube and look for 'abaya'. As usual when I watched videos about abaya, my mind keep going to Ms. Amal Murad, the famous abaya designer.

I just couldn't resist looking after her facebook profile which I'm still on her 'awaiting friend conformation' list but I can still look at the photos in her albums. And please forgive me Ms Amal, because I've copied this gorgeous photo of you.

Simply beautiful, both the designer and the abaya.

You always inpires me. I'm so thankful that in the fashion world, there is someone like you who creates so many modest, elegant, beautiful and gorgeous abayaat. I'm not a designer but I love wearing abaya and make lots of abaya style ideas because I believe, we can still be elegant and modest at the same time.

More important, as a Muslim woman, I really want others to see that Islam does not restrict it's believers from being beautiful as long as they follow the correct Islamic dress code. Ahem, I wish you would cover more of the chest area but who am I to say so? Only my du'as are for you.

It is a weekend for many of us but I'm working as usual on Saturday. Anyway, while I was browsing through my photo albums, I came across some interesting photos that I forgot to share them here.

I think most of you know that I'm selling black abayaat from the Middle East and I am not selling colourful jilbabs, however, I always like helping friends finding and buying the jilbabs for them.

And I am living in a town where colourful abayaat or we call them 'jubah' can be found easily especially during the Friday religious lecture in Jalan Dato' Pati.

Tourists both local and foreign love visiting this place on Friday. The main attraction is the lecture which was held on the main road which was closed for nearly 6 hours. You can only see and experience this events in Kota Bharu, Kelantan.

I love your jalabiya Sue. It is very feminine and gorgeous. I would suggest you find a hijab with a darker tone of either pink or burgundy with some bling-bling on it. Find a pair of shoe also from the same colour tone. Matched them with a black shiny clutch to make your appearance a bit formal.

Use only a light make-up with a beautiful kohl applied around your eyes. Just enough to follow the sunnah and enhance a bit your self confidence to walk up that stairs and stand in front of the audience to receive your degree.

And as for the accessories, use some simple bangles maybe black + gold + pink, a bracelet and also a cute ring. Do not add to much.

My Personal Abaya Collection

Assalamualaikum and good afternoon everyone.

I am very tired right now and almost fall asleep on this chair. It was a very busy day for me. I just want to lie down and close my eyes but it's not possible yet. Insyaallah when I completed half of the data entries for Abaya Elegan's inventories, I'll get my rest.

So, this is a kind of entry that is intended to make me alert. A short intermission from all those confusing data. Let's talk about my wardrobe. Yes, the real KakChik's Wardrobe.

I think I've already shown you in another entry those inside look of my wardrobe. So, I won't be sharing any new photo of the same view. Why don't I show one by one some of my current abayaat collection? I have nearly 20 pieces of black abayaat which I wear daily and more than half of the collection is from Dubai.

Let's not waste anymore time and we proceed to the first photo.

My first abaya. It was from Indonesia. Has lots of beautiful neatly sewn beads on the chest.

An abaya from Vietnam. It is decorated with beads and sequins.

My favourite abaya for formal occasions. Lots of customers also like this Dubai abaya.

My one and only Mecca abaya. Also my favourite.

My 36th. birthday present. An expensive Dubai abaya which I love very much.

My 2nd. butterfly abaya which the dressmaker named after my real name.

An abaya from Qatar which was supposed to be a gift for a friend but turn out smaller than her normal size. Now it's mine.

Another favourite abaya. I still remember the day I wore this abaya during a promotion, customers bought every size available because they think it's so gorgeous.

The latest addition. The cutting is just right for me and it flows nicely when I wear it.

That's not all but I think it's enough to share with you. Ever since I started wearing black abaya, I am not interested anymore in coloured abaya. I have give away all my jilbabs because I don't want to waste them inside my wardrobe. It's better if they can find a new owner who'll appreciate and wear them.

I'm really sorry for not blogging for almost a week. Actually I did blogged everyday at Keluargaku Sayang but there were lots of activities regarding my bookshop and abayashop that I have to neglect KakChik's Wardrobe for a while. I don't even spare time to reply to your comments and messages. I'm really am sorry.

It's the end of the year and there are many works to be done such as accounts for both businesses, stocks updates and inventories, so many new abayaat have already arrived and I have to take photos, edit them and upload them to the blogshop and also to facebook's albums. Ok, ok, enough with all the excuses. I know you do not want to hear that.

Anyway, I have good news for you. Starting from yesterday (sorry for telling you about this today) my abaya blogshop is having our 1st Anniversary Sale until the end of this month. And I haven't write a proper entry for it yet at ABAYA ELEGAN. I am in such a busy situation right now. To top it off, one of my assistance is in labour and the other one is a flood victim. (I think she managed to come to work today). They are my good assistances and they are having difficulties which I have to tolerate. Hopefully everything will be good for them after this.

I'm learning to be a good manager for my life. It's not always easy to jumble between family, work and businesses but I have lots of fun doing all that. Thankfully, I have a husband who's always support me especially when I came home tired. He'll help with the household chores and that'll make lots of my tasks easy. Alhamdulillah.

I think that's for now as an update about what's going on in my life recently. Insyaallah I'll try to reply all your comments and messages. Another thing before I forget, I haven't reply to some of your emails especially the long ones because it takes a bit of a time for me to think and compose my reply. Insyaallah I'll be sending the reply soon especially to adib, binetou, miza, aida and em. Thanks to all your emails.

Indeed, It Is A Very Touching Story

Every Friday afternoon, after the Jumma services at the Central Mosque (and shortly after Al-Usrah program), the Imam and his eleven year old son would go out into their town and hand out “PATH TO PARADISE” and other Islamic literature.

This particular and fortunate Friday afternoon, as the time came for the Imam and his son to go to the streets with their booklets, it was very cold outside, as well as pouring rain.

The boy bundled up in his warmest and driest clothes and said, ‘OK, dad, I’m ready!’

His ‘Mu’allim’ dad asked, ‘Ready for what?’

‘Dad, it’s time we gather our tracts together and go out.’

Dad responds, ‘Son, it’s very cold outside and it’s pouring rain.’

The boy gives his dad a surprised look, asking, ‘But Dad, aren’t people still going to Hell, even though it’s raining?’

Dad answers, ‘Son, I am not going out in this weather.’

Despondently, the boy asks, ‘Dad, can I go? Please?’

His father hesitated for a moment then said, ‘Son, you can go. Here are the booklets. Be careful son.’

‘Thanks, Dad!’

And with that, he was off and out into the rain. This eleven year old boy walked the streets of the town going door to door and handing everybody he met in the street a pamphlet or a booklet.

After two hours of walking in the rain, he was soaking, bone-chilled wet and down to his VERY LAST BOOKLET. He stopped on a corner and looked for someone to hand a booklet to, but the streets were totally deserted.

Then he turned toward the first home he saw and started up the sidewalk to the front door and rang the door bell. He rang the bell, but nobody answered..

He rang it again and again, but still no one answered. He waited but still no answer. Finally, this eleven year old da’wah-expert turned to leave, but something stopped him. Again, he turned to the door and rang the bell and knocked loudly on the door with his fist. He waited, something holding him there on the front porch!

He rang again and this time the door slowly opened. Standing in the doorway was a very sad-looking elderly lady. She softly asked, ‘What can I do for you, son?’ With radiant eyes and a smile that lit up her world, this little boy said, ‘Ma’am, I’m sorry if I disturbed you, but I just want to tell you that “ALLAH REALLY LOVE AND CARE FOR YOU” and I came to give you my very last booklet which will tell you all about God, the real purpose of creation, and how to achieve His pleasure.’

With that, he handed her his last booklet and turned to leave..

She called to him as he departed. ‘Thank you, son! And God Bless You!’

Well, the following Friday afternoon after Jumat service (during which period they hold a weekly program, Al-Usrah) the Imam was giving some lectures. As he concludes the lectures, he asked, ‘Does anybody have questions or want to say anything?’

Slowly, in the back row among the ladies, an elderly voice was heard over the speaker. As the voice went on, a hint of glorious gaiety and contentment was plainly evident in it even though it wasn’t to be seen, ‘No one in this gathering knows me. I’ve never been here before. You see, before last Friday I was not a Muslim, and thought I could be. My husband passed away some time ago, leaving me totally alone in this world. Last Friday, being a particularly cold and rainy day, it was even more so in my heart that I came to the end of the line where I no longer had any hope or will to live.

So I took a rope and a chair and ascended the stairway into the attic of my home. I fastened the rope securely to a rafter in the roof then stood on the chair and fastened the other end of the rope around my neck. Standing on that chair, so lonely and broken-hearted I was about to leap off, when suddenly the loud ringing of my doorbell downstairs startled me. I thought, I’ll wait a minute, and whoever it is will go away……

I waited and waited, but the ringing doorbell seemed to get louder and more insistent, and then the person ringing also started knocking loudly…… ……

I thought to myself again, ‘Who on earth could this be? Nobody ever rings my bell or comes to see me.’ I loosened the rope from my neck and started for the front door, all the while the bell rang louder and louder.

When I opened the door and looked I could hardly believe my eyes, for there on my front porch was the most radiant and angelic little boy I had ever seen in my life. His SMILE, oh, I could never describe it to you! The words that came from his mouth caused my heart that had long been dead TO LEAP TO LIFE as he exclaimed with a cherub-like voice, ‘Ma’am, I just came to tell you that ALLAH REALLY LOVE AND CARE FOR YOU!’

Then he gave me this booklet, “Path To Paradise” that I now hold in my hand. As the little angel disappeared back out into the cold and rain, I closed my door and read slowly every word of this book. Then I went up to my attic to get my rope and chair. I wouldn’t be needing them anymore.

You see? I am now a Happy Vicegerent of the One True God. Since the address of your congregation was stamped on the back of this booklet, I have come here to personally say THANK YOU to God’s little angel who came just in the nick of time and by so doing, spared my soul from an eternity in Hell.’

There was not a dry eye in the mosque. And as shouts of TAKBIR!!! ALLAH AKBAR!!! rented the air, even among the ladies.

Imam-Dad descended from the pulpit to the front row where the little angel was seated….

He took his son in his arms and sobbed uncontrollably. Probably no jama’at has had a more glorious moment, and probably this universe has never seen a Papa that was more filled with love and honor for his son……. Except for One. This very one…

It was a gift from my older sister and I love it so much. I've been searching for this blue pair of shoes since July after I move into my new house. Usually all the shoes were kept inside their own boxes but this one cannot be found anywhere.

I am so ashamed. I can't believe my eyes when I see all these photos below. How can they call it Islamic Fashion Festival when they mock Islam in everything they did? Astaghfirullahalaziim. O Allah, what has happened to our country leaders? Why are these people like this? Can't they differentiate between ISLAMic fashion and NOT? I think even preschool children know what kind of fashion are these.

ISLAMIC FASHION FAST BECOMING LUCRATIVE BUSINESS, SAYS ROSMAH

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 10 (Bernama) -- Islamic fashion is fast becoming a lucrative business with the current market estimated to be worth more than US$96 billion (RM302 billion) a year, said Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.

Rosmah, wife of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, said it was an enormous market that had yet to be fully tapped.

"The global Muslim population comprises one of the fastest-growing consumer markets in the world, hence representing a major growth opportunity for businesses around the globe, including in the fashion sector," she said at the opening of the Malaysian-inspired festival, the Islamic Fashion Festival (IFF) Gala Dinner and Fashion Show, at the Monaco Sporting Club in Monte Carlo Monday night. The text of her speech was released here.

The event was attended also by, among others, Prince Albert II of Monaco, Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabr Al-Thani, Najib and Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

Rosmah said that according to the prestigious Dubai French Fashion University Esmod, over half of the world’s 1.6 billion Muslim population is spending a substantial part of their annual income on fashion and accessories.

"This recent interest in Muslim fashion signals the changing dynamics of the ever-increasing interaction among Eastern and Western cultures. Nowadays, Muslim women can choose from a broad selection of designs to create a look that matches their values, traditions and tastes, without compromising any of the three," said Rosmah.

She said that thus "the fashion players would do well to plan ahead so as not to miss the proverbial boat in capturing this lucrative segment of fashion".

Rosmah said major clothing retailers had been busy highlighting how top brands like Anne Klein and Ralph Lauren were already producing fashion lines that met the Islamic requirement of full coverage. Oh, really?

"In the same vein, it is interesting to note that even as the great 'veil' debate raged in France, the country, being the fashion capital of the world, remains as one of the world’s major exporters for Muslim couture 'abayas' and 'niqabs'.

"Clearly, politics notwithstanding, those in the fashion business are increasingly aware of the burgeoning demand for Muslim apparel worldwide," she said.

Rosmah said she hoped that Monaco could emerge as one of the gateways to the European market for Islamic-inspired fashion from Malaysia and the rest of Asia. If the Islamic-inspired fashion is like the ones shown, I don't think it's a good idea.

On IFF, she said its main mission was to capitalise on fashion as a platform to bring together designers and fashion enthusiasts of different cultures, religious backgrounds and race to bring Islamic Couture into the mainstream of style and fashion. Then, PLEAAAAASE make them REAL ISLAMIC. Please.

Since it was started in 2006, IFF has spread its wings to Jakarta, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and New York, featuring the works of more than 200 designers, and had showcased a varied choice of styles and looks for Muslim-dressing, decidedly different from the stereotypical impressions of Islamic apparel held by many. Define stereotypical impressions of Islamic apparel for me please. I'm still so green on this territory.

"The Islamic Fashion Festival is precisely intended to end the myth that a Muslim woman cannot posses a sense of style. On the contrary, Islamic dressing is a style of its own, and today it is beginning to attract more and more attention, as mainstream trends become increasingly bold, sensual and provocative which is unappealing to the more conservative consumers," she said. Assalamualaikum and good afternoon everyone.

Alhamdulillah, thank you Allah for giving me back my healthy body. I was a bit sick since Monday afternoon and was resting at home yesterday. Insyaallah I'm now at my office trying to do some accounts. I am glad that I can come to work. If not I might have a big load of files on my table by this Saturday. Of course I do not want that, so here I am taking a little rest from the spreadsheet.

This morning when I was getting ready, I was looking at my abayaat in the wardrobe and this thought came to my mind, "Let's wear something that can make you feel full of energy. Yes, let's wear something that have red on it." And I choose the red on black abaya aisyah to wear.

My New Abaya

Assalamualaikum and good evening to all friends and readers.

To abaya lovers out there, let's wear abaya. It's so comfortable and suitable to every kind of events. LOL, please forgive me my friends for being so in love with this type of clothes. I am not saying that other kind of muslimah dresses are not good. It's just that I love abaya.

Ever since I started wearing my first abaya in 2007, my wardrobe has made an almost 180 degree changes. If you have the opportunity to open the door of my wardrobe, you shouldn't be surprise if everything inside it is black.

And recently I have added another one to the increasingly crowded storage. A few already found a new owner during Ramadhan and that's why I have to re-stock hehe.

I am not buying expensive ones, only a 'budget abaya'.

I am lucky to have you as my friend

Assalamualaikum dear friends and readers.

Oh, how lucky I am to have a friend who treasures the friendship that grows between us. Even though we've only met a few times in real life, I feel like she already knows a lot about me. Actually she's the one who approached me first, online. I think through this blog and then continue to facebook. Then I get to know that she's attending the same university as me, under the same school but a different course.

I think while I still don't know about her existence there, she's been taking advantage of observing me from afar. Is that right my friend? Then, last semester, Allah has allowed us to meet. I was so happy and can easily recognized her from all the photos in her facebook albums. Thanks to her for uploading some photos for me to know her in person. Alhamdulillah.

Delicious Cheese Cupcakes.

To make the friendship blooms, we need to have constant contacts and make efforts to get closer. Islam teaches us to spread salam right and making friends are one of the best way. I am lucky indeed. A while ago I was condemned because my written English is so bad but many of my close friends have shown their moral support and she's one of them.

Yesterday morning, I was really surprised to receive a phone call from a baker saying that she's supposed to send me cakes on behalf of her friend named Izura. I was seriously thinking, "hey, have I done something special to receive the gifts?" Then the cakes arrived. Mashaallah... there were 6 cute cheese cup cakes and a half kilo creamy fruit flan, yum!

Syukran, syukran, syukran kathira Iera. I have no other words to say. ( And in her private message to me, she said that, she's sending me two gifts to represent our ukhuwwah and also to show her support in my effort to keep writing in English. I think that's the gist of the message.)

I've just enjoyed eating 2 cuppies that's very delicious and I'll recommend others to try it too. Then I sliced the fruit flan into 4 parts, took 1 part out and enjoy eating it with dear hubby. Well, when I came home this afternoon, the 6 cuppies were already reduced to 4. Amni had one and hubby also give it a try. They said the cupcakes are yummilicious.

Thank you Iera. I'll try my best to be a good friend to you not because you gave me the cakes but because you are my sister in Islam. Jazakillahi khairan kathira.

The fashion of today's teens.

From my observation starting from 9 am until now at the public library.

1. Skinny jeans or skinny pants.

2. Tight and short shirts or t-shirts either short or long sleeves.

3. High heels, funky flats and funky wedges.

4. Cardigan on a hot day.

5. Instant hijab or tudung bawal which is flipped over the shoulders making it falls above the breasts.

6. Baju kurung but wears no other layer under the skirt. It's see-through.

7. Big handbags with funky colourful designs.

8. Expensive mobile phones.

9. Lots of them are following the Korean pop culture styles.

10. Boys are trying to look macho, spotting a mohican look-a-like hairdos.

I think that's all that I can summarize for now. Luckily, they are here to study, well at least most of them are. A few are trying to take the opportunity to meet their girl friends or boy friends but were prevented from doing so inside the library. Sorry, it's not allowed.

I'm still thinking of the best way to approach them and share with them the concept of wearing modest clothing for Muslims. I've tried distributing some pamphlets about aurat but not that influencing. I think the best approach would be a personal talk. However it's too impossible to do it when we don't have enough man power.

So, for now, I'll make du'a for them. May Allah open up their hearts to ~~the~~ accept the nasihah and make changes to their attires. May Allah show them that wearing a proper aurah-covering clothes is the best action to do as a Muslim. May Allah show them the beauty of following the true teachings of Islam.

They are my younger sisters and brothers in Islam and I wish they can see the greatness of following the sunnah in their way of life.

My Precious Handbag

This morning while I was getting ready to go to work, I was thinking of changing my handbag from the current one that I'm using to another handbag. I have several handbags that I used daily to any kind of events. All my handbags are big in size because I love spaces and I need them to put so many things, important things even though I seldom use some of them.

The most comfortable handbag that I love to use is this one from Rorine:

I love this handbag.

I've bought it in 2008 if I'm not mistaken with a reduced price because I am a member of the Rorine MLM business. I love it because:

1. The big size. You can store an A4 paper inside. The width is just nice for my taste.

2. It is layered with a gauzy cloth material inside which I always preferred.

3. The shoulder strap's length is just nice and when I carry the bag, it's always stays on my hip.

This is an original Rorine handbag and I think among all the choices, this is the best one for me.

Cigarette prices to go up tomorrow

PETALING JAYA: Cigarette prices are expected to go up tomorrow by 70 sen for a pack of 20 sticks.

According to a report by a Chinese daily, most 20-stick packs, which is currently sold at RM9.30, will cost RM10.

Quoting sources, the daily reported that the 70 sen increase is one of the highest in recent history, with previous hikes being between 10 and 30 sen.

Packs of high-grade cigarettes are expected to cost as much as RM14.

A source predicted that the price hike would cause cigarette sales to drop by 10%.

I really do not like people who smoke cigarette. The smell of the smokes really annoys me and makes me want to vomit. I can understand if a smoker wants to smoke but please do it somewhere else, not at public places.

If I am bold enough I will say something to the smoker but I'm not always bold. So I hate them silently. I hope they have more common sense when they see others' annoyed faces.

Please stop smoking. You are not only killing yourself but you are killing others around you too. Please, take this price hike opportunity to stop smoking.

Salamo Aleikom Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu

I want to comment about an article that I happened to read one of these days. I posted it on my Facebook profile by mistake, but I want to have my say in it, inshaAllah.

This is the article in question: Stop Telling Muslim Women How To Dress

I must say, I was allured by the title, but, once I started reading it I just felt how much of consciousness of todays trials and Islamic thought weren't put into the article.

I agree that some people lead the subject of hijab/niqaab to sexist views, but it's not all of them. Let's see: isn't a Muslim woman supposed to follow the Qur'an and the Sunnah? So, why would she go back on the Qur'an and the Sunnah at the same time when it comes to her clothing? WAIT, now that I'm saying this, people will start calling me extremist. Well, it's not me who is extremist then, look to the Qur'an, see the context and the commentaries of the Sahabah and other scholars and then check the Sunnah about hijab. No, it's not me who is extremist.

Also, there's a difference between insulting and giving advice. The first is not allowed from a Muslim to another Muslim or even to a kafir (unless during war, when the kuffar are hostile towards the Muslims). The second is more than allowed, but are the receivers of this advice with an open heart for the worry her sister/brother has on her Hereafter?

Another thing is when the people that don't wear hijab and don't wear the proper hijab, try to say that there's no such rules in the Qur'an and Sunnah that tell them to cover up more. Well, go look again and bring a sheikh to explain it to you or just look to the rulings on the clothing through Islamic history and compare to the lay back attitude of some sheikhs today that allow some people even to drink wine and eat pork... astaghfirullah.

Now, let's make some differences here. Not wearing hijab or not wearing proper hijab does not mean we can judge the faith of that person. Faith is in the heart, it can't be seen through a garment. It's like smoking. You can't tell a person that smokes that they have low faith. Some relative in my husband's family smokes and I see each Fajr prayer, he stays praying and reading Qur'an until the sun rises, he is an old person, so it's hard for him to go to the masjid. And I KNOW many Muslims don't do that, they don't even go to the masjid if they can. Many of them don't even pray Fajr and they still don't smoke. So, let's make some sense here.

The reality I see many times is that as much as the sisters and brothers want to see some positive change in the people who don't wear hijab or don't wear proper hijab, out of worry, not of insult, they take the advise as an offense, which shouldn't happen. Why are they so sensitive to this matter? Is it because they know they are wrong in wearing what they wear? Allahu A'lam.

I see many times a sister giving an advise to another sister who is not wearing proper hijab and she simply gets offended by the worry of her sister who is advising.

One of these days, after I took care of my visa, I went to a masjid near the building I was in. The prayer started, everyone prayed. Then, after it finished, a sister comes to the prayer room. For you to have a picture, she was not wearing proper clothing to enter a masjid, she was wearing a very tight shirt on the upper part. Yes, like most of the girls in Egypt. So, before she prayed, a lady who was about 40-50 years old called her and asked her name. She said her name and then the lady advised her "you can put some prayer dress over your clothes so that your prayer can be accepted". The girl smiled and went away, she did not pray. So, which kind of Muslims are we talking about? The ones that take an advise as an offense (generally). I must tell you, if the Sahabah took and advise and confirmed it to be the Sunnah and the right way, they would hold on to it and practice it as much as they can.

Understand, my sisters in Islam, that the people who advise you, worry about you. They are not indirectly offending you, they want the best for you, they want Paradise for you. Insulting is one thing, advising is another thing. Let's distinguish that a bit.

To the people that advise, try to be as subtle as possible, be kind and gentle. Explain with proof from Qur'an and Sunnah.

To the subject about "men and women can't be friends in Islam", well, they can, as long as they are mahram. It's not about sex, it's about Islamic rulings and how Islam was and is practiced. I remember the incident when 'A'isha (raw) was alone in the desert when she went to search for her necklace, she fell asleep. The person who came and saw her said "subhanAllah", did he go there and say "how are you 'Aisha, what happened, why are you here?". No, their conversation was direct to the point and he tried to help her, not out of friendship, but out of respect and knowing that she was the wife of the Prophet (sws). Also, why is there a separation between men and women in prayer? Even if the women pray behind the men, there's a separation, the women don't pray beside men and men don't pray beside women, and this is a Sunnah. So, you see there's no mixing allowed by the Prophet (sws). And he (sws) advised us not to go to supermarkets, if possible. To avoid what? Mixing. So, if you say non-mahram girls and boys can be friends, why did the Prophet (sws) forbid girls and boys to be in touch in the first place?

Another thing, scholars are mostly men, if you don't take an advise from a scholar then you're in an even worse situation and you should check yourself and the faith you are having right now. If people write books on this subject it's because they care, they don't write books out of a hobby.

Let's take a deeper look to our teachings.

About the non-Muslims telling Muslim women how to wear. They are adding wood to the fire. I must ask to the non-Muslims, where in this whole world are you capable of telling a Muslim what he/she is doing wrong or right in his/her religion?

Most of these non-Muslims just go to their Muslim neighbor Sami around the corner and ask him to give them a commentary from himself on the Qur'an just because they think by a person knowing Arabic that they can understand the Qur'an to that extend.

Let me remind the non-Muslims that Qur'an is not like the Bible. Many of you may not have seen the original texts of the Bible, but we Muslims have to see things in Arabic to have a deeper understanding of what's being said and even so, we need something called Tafsir from scholars to know the exact meaning. It's not like "bring a cup of popcorns and let's watch the movie". It requires years of study of the grammar and the interpretation from hadith and the sahabah and the students of the sahabah to know about these verses in the Qur'an and explain them. It's not like you read it just like that and it's what's in front of you. There's something called "context". If you don't care about the context you're just like Al-Qaeda that reads and does, no question about it. You're using Al-Qaedas tactics? Aren't you supposed to be against their way of thinking?

Just an update.

Assalamualaikum and good morning everyone.

Alhamdulillah... after a night of peaceful rest, I am very happy that Allah still allow me to wake up this morning. There are still so many things that I want to do as an addition to my good deeds part before I parted with this world. Amal makruf nahi mungkar, is easy to say but not very easy to apply.

Today, as usual is the busiest day for me. I already prepared a list of tasks that I'd have to complete starting from the Home Tasks, the Business Tasks and the Pleasure Tasks. Thanks to dear husband, two of my Home Tasks are already complete. He washed all the dirty clothes yesterday, alhamdulillah. The only thing that I have to do now is folding, hanging and ironing them.

Sweeping the floor is also done for both floors. Alhamdulillah and thank you to dear husband. I'm going to treasure his thoughtfulness and insyaallah will treat him with something special for lunch today. Since he's working from home, he's gradually adapting his self as the 'house manager'. I know it's not easy and challenging to his ego, but dear husband has changed a lot. I think emotional stability comes with open mindedness and wise decision in handling life obstacles. Just alhamdulillah.

Ok, now I have to start preparing to go out for the Business Tasks and if I manage to handle everything nicely I might pamper myself with the last tasks. Sight-seeing or window-shopping looks interesting hehe.

Assalamualaikum and good morning everyone.

Alhamdulillah, what a wonderful feeling I have right now. It's all thanks to a friend of my husband. This friend or maybe I can say one of the best friends of my husband has called and invited Hubby for a breakfast somewhere. At this moment my dear husband is waiting at the front of our house for the friend to come. He's spotting a big smile on his face and I know he's happy.

My dear husband does not has many friends but there are a few that I know personally whom always there for him especially during his bad times. Hubby introduced them to me and I get to know who are his friends, sometimes their wives too. Even though I'm not on very friendly term with them because they are men but I know they have good relationship toward each other.

This friend who's on his way to take Hubby to breakfast is newly married. He's younger than Hubby but Hubby considers him as his close friends because they have lots of things in common. Secretly I've seen them helping each other and I know how much Hubby treasure their friendship. May Allah bless them and make the friendship last until Jannah.

To my dear husband, have a great time with your friend before he flies abroad again. Enjoy your friendship as mush as I enjoyed mine. Alhamdulillah I have many friends either online or in real life whom I consider close friends. They are part of my wonderful life.

I sell this abaya at my blogshop ABAYA ELEGAN but I do not own it. Right now, I'm saving money to buy this abaya for Eid-ul-Adha.

It's one of the hot selling item at ABAYA ELEGAN during the fasting month. People bought it to wear during Eid-ul-Fitr.

Dear friends and readers,

Last week during a visit to my husband's friend's house, I was talking with the wife. She is a religious teacher at one of the prestigious Islamic school in this State. I was very glad that we got clicked quite fast even though we are just being introduced properly.

The sister is a bit younger than me but she called herself 'Kakak' because I think she's more matured than me with 2 daughters. There's no problem there and in a way, we get a bit closer like that.

Since my husband and her husband were busy talking to one another mostly about Internet Marketing and what not, both of us try to occupy our time by talking about social issues. From the topic of ZINA among the teenagers to the current hijab trends, the instant 'tudung' that can be spotted on many local women heads. Yes, the Malay Muslim.

She shared with me her constant disappointment with her colleagues, known here as USTAZAHs or religious teachers. How can an Ustazah teaches good fashion sense, (when I said that, it means Islamic fashion sense) when she herself is not appropriately covering herself according to our Islamic dress code.

For example, the Ustazah scolded her students for wearing a short instant 'tudung' like al-amira hijab that does not cover properly the aurah. Yet, the Ustazah was wearing a lycra hijab that was sticking to her body like a second skin. Yes, the size of the hijab is big but it is showing clearly the assets that should be hidden. So... is she teaching the correct thing?

In another case, female students were asked to came to school for Qiamullail and everyone were required to wear modest clothes aka properly covering the aurah. However, some of the women teachers who came to supervise, came in casual clothes and not even bother to wear proper hijab.

There is a Malay proverb that say that kind of attitude as 'Ibarat ketam mengajar anak berjalan lurus." The title is the direct translation of this proverb. Basically this proverb is trying to tell us not to say other people's way is wrong when we ourselves are not doing the right thing. So make sure we walk the talk if we want to teach or preach to others. If not others would not be listening or following out advice.

I hope I am not like those Ustazahs and I hope they'll realize their mistake soon before more people are disappointed with us.

I'm crying because I'm happy

Assalamualaikum dear friends and readers.

I am crying right now. I just can't stop the tears from coming out and annoyingly making my nose watery. Yes, I am crying while I'm smiling so much and this also makes me want to hug them, to hug you.

Just now, I've updated my main blog on my quest to conceive. And automatically the blog update appeared in my facebook wall. Some friends wrote beautiful words and du'a for us, husband and me. Those words really get into my heart and the water dam just broke and makes me cry.

I feel so loved, so cared about. I know they are consoling me, motivating me and encouraging me. Waiting for nearly 9 years to conceive is really challenging. Hurtful words from people who don't understand ,these days always make me cry. I don't get angry anymore. I'm so used to those kind of attitude.

But I'm not quite used to wonderful words, kind words that support me. I just want to cry more.

My husband and I went to visit his friend because they have not seen one another for quite a long time. As today is the Malaysia Day and the whole country is having public holiday, he thought it would be good to visit some friends.

Anyway, above are my attire: an open front abaya with pink and baby blue diamonte, my new Vincci shoe, a beloved Rorine handbag and a pink pashmina.

who sell it?
is that the same one that I sell at my blogshop?
how much is it?

and on and on...

What an elegant lady.

After Eid, I was a bit lazy to update my blogs and the long holiday with so many weddings and open house invitations makes me more lazy. But I am still alert when I spot a lady in an abaya hehe.

KOTA BAHARU, Sept 13 (Bernama) -- Newly-proclaimed Sultan of Kelantan Tuanku Muhammad Faris Petra Ibni Sultan Ismail Petra is described by many as a ruler with the people's well-being at heart.

He has been going around the state, visiting villages and Orang Asli settlements, to be with the people and listen to their problems.

Wearing his trademark robe and "gumbang" Malay attire and "kopiah" (cap), he is unassuming and always at ease as he mingles with the people.

At one time in Pantai Damat, Bachok, Tuanku Muhammad Faris Petra visited an ailing single mother, who relied only on assistance from the Welfare Department.

Sitting cross-legged at the home of Azizah Abdullah, 41, and her three children, Tuanku Muhammad Faris Petra asked her how she was doing, and was deeply touched by the sufferings of the family.

He offered words of encouragement, telling her children that he hoped they would be successful in their education, and handed over his personal contribution.

Tuanku Muhammad Faris Petra, 41, was today proclaimed as the Sultan of Kelantan, succeeding his father Tuanku Ismail Petra Almarhum Sultan Yahya Petra.

The eldest prince of Tuanku Ismail Petra has three siblings, namely Tengku Bendahara Tengku Muhammad Faiz Petra, Tengku Temenggong Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Petra and Tengku Amalin A'Ishah Putri.

He received his early education in Kota Baharu and Kuala Lumpur and later at the Oakham School, in Rutland, England until 1989 before pursuing his education in diplomatic studies at St Cross College, Oxford, United Kingdom and Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies until 1991.

He was born on Oct 6, 1969 and was made the Crown Prince in October 1985 and the Regent of Kelantan last year.

An avid reader and fan of four-wheel-drive vehicle expedition, horse sports, bowling and archery, he also follows closely the development in and outside the country.

He has been going to the ground, meeting the people, often quietly, away from the glare of the media.

Tuanku Muhammad Faris Petra also involves in many charity organisations and has been appointed the Commander of the 506 Territorial Army Regiment with a rank of Brigadier General (Honorary).

Assalamualaikum dear friends and readers.

It's been a few days after my last post. I was very busy trying to catch up with all the works and also managing my businesses so as usual my attention have to be focused only to one blog, Keluargaku Sayang.

Assalamualaikum and Ramadhan Mubarak.

How's everyone today? Hopefully all of you are high in eeman and great in health. I'm doing fine, alhamdulillah and trying to think what will I share here today. I'm going to my bookshop in about an hour because we are having a SALE today and one of my assistants just texted me that she's on EL.

Anyway, I think I'm gonna share some photos taken from the official facebook page of the Chief Minister of Kelantan. Since it was in a public page so I think it's ok for me to use the photos. Before that, I'd like to inform that every year since maybe 3 or 4 years ago, the state government has spared a special place in front of the state ~~museum~~ stadium as a Qaryah Ramadhan.

What is it, you might ask? Well, it is a place like this:

After the prayers, people want to shake and kiss his hand.
