Yesterday a friend asked where to get a niqaab and did I make them myself? I've already wrote my answer in my comment box for the previous post. As a Muslim sister I wish to help anyone in need especially if the person is going to do something that will make her closer to Allah.
9 of my niqaabs.
Insya-Allah I'm going to make 2 posts about the niqaab. The first post which is this one is about my niqaab; where did I bought them, who sew them etc. While in the second post I shall features some information about where you can buy niqaab with different styles. Insya-Allah. I hope I can do that just in one go but looking at my current work schedule, maybe that wouldn't be possible.
Ok, as promised, here are all my hand-made niqaabs Malaysian style. I made them myself. I bought a 1 3/4 m of 60" wide comfy material and made a hijab and a niqaab from it. It's really easy to make and I wish I have time to show it but... I don't know, not today.
All this niqaab were sewn with a matching circular hijab. You can see the light green one that I wore in the first picture on top.
The shimmery niqaab was for my wedding and I still wear it time to time for a formal events.
Although I love to have those niqaab from the Middle East, I still cound't find a shop selling them here and I'm sure I don't have time to sew anymore niqaab. All of my niqaabs were well-worn for over 5 years. The colours are getting lighter by years.

Lol, I had to laugh when I saw that it was dedicated to me!
I like the niqab that looks like satin. Nice shimmery colour! Is it easy to make niqaabs?

You go ahead and laugh but I really like making special entries for special friends new or old.
Making niqaab like mine is easy if you know how to hold a needle and a thread. That nice shimmery niqaab is satin and it's really cool wearing it at night.

Dengan ketinggian macam tu kakchik kena guna kain 2m baru cukup untuk buat niqab sekali dengan tudung.
Harga, biar kakchik tengok kat pasaran dulu ya. Selalunya kakchik guna kain palace, 5 tahun dulu RM19 semeter tapi sekarang ni tak pasti pulak. Ada jenis kain lebih murah tapi bagi kakchik palace lebih berkualiti sebab sangat tahan lama, mudah terbentuk.
InsyaAllah bila dah survey harga, kakchik bagitahu harga penuh ya. Warna, takde masalah.

salam, I like some of the niqaabs shown in your posts. I am not a niqaab wearer, at least not at the moment. Recently, i decided to wear black jubah most of the time due to personal reasons. I have nothing against women wearing colorful and designed clothing but as i said my choice on black jubah is due to personal reasons.
I do understand why the Arabs wear niqaab. However, i find it quite interesting to know why malaysian women wear niqaab? Isnt that women aurat is everything except the face area and pergelangan tangan? Or may i ask, why are you wearing niqaab? It's okay if you find this too personal to answer. I sincerely want to know just for my knowledge. Is there any ayat al quran or hadith that imposes on women wearing niqaab? Thank you for your time.

First, please forgive me for not answering your comment earlier. My bad. I completely forgot about it.
Kak, niqaab is not culture but it's a sunnah of our beloved Ummahatul Mikminin so it's not only for the Arabs but for every Muslim women. You choose whether to wear or not, it's up to you. It's okay kak because we should ask when we don't know the answer, right? There are many written documents and books on niqaab, please look for it online or at your nearest bookshop. I'm sorry I just a bit lazy to rewrite it here. Again, forgive me.
