A clash between two world.

Love the abaya design but I'm ashamed to see the background.
For a 'kampung' woman like me, the view at the back is way too bizarre and shameful to see. I'm glad that there's no lingerie shops modeled their merchandise like this in this town. Lingerie is something private and should be sold somewhere not too obvious.

Back to the ladies in the abayat, I love love that abaya. Hmm... now I'm thinking of tailor made one like that for me. What do you think?

The abaya is gorgeous, mashaAllah! And the display is strangely overtly sexual...Did they forget their audience?

Wa'alaikummussalam Umm Kadhim. Yes, it's the reason why I like too.

Wa'alaikummussalam Nafisah. Hehe, nasib baik kat sini takde kan. Good idea. But would anyone buy it because I'm sure the cost would be high.

Noor, according to the owner of the image, the pic was taken in Dubai. I think they aim specifically the Muslim women.

The abaya is BEAUTIFUL :)!Having it tailored would be a great idea.I'd consider it.
As for the background...it's too much...I've never seen such one. It's too obvious and the poses of the plastic ladies way too provocative.Mah!

Jasmina, insyaAllah I'll tailor-made one for me first. When it's finish and I can wear it, I'll modeled it for consideration.

Agree about the background.

hahahaha, come to KSA you'll see that and more! No wonder niqab is so tantalizing here, dudes imagine that behind the niqab is a woman like what you see in the lingerie windows!

Spkg of lingerie, I also feel, like you that those lingerie shops shouldn't be so "out" in the open, and esp that only women should staff them! (In the US, no self-respecting man would willingly go into a lingerie store, most mill around outside, while their wives, or whomever go inside, those who do venture inside blush, look awkward and try to rush out as fast as they can. But, here in KSA...illogically MEN work in the lingerie stores (like everywhere else!) Unless you happen upon a "ladies only mall" or something you have to put up with male salesclerks! I NEVER would consider buying even undies at such shops. yuckers!

Umm Ibrahim, I already imagine that the pic was in KSA. Yes, I read your blog and I know what you mean.

Yuck! How could they let men tended stores for ladies? I wouldn't dream to buy lingerie or undies from those stores. Better use the online stores. I even blush when buying with a lady salesclerk.

It's really for KSA's govnmt to allow men to work there. Yes, ILLOGICAL! It must difficult and uncomfortable to shop there.

Assalamualaikum sis,

Unfortunately these kind of shops are in abundance here. Sometimes I can't help but feel embarrassed.

Wa'alaikummussalam Hajar,
I'm so sorry for this late respond. I can't agree more. Malaysian has become so open with all things Western and forget to live their life with Islam as they should.

Salaams.

I know this is an old post, but I saw the picture and couldn't resist commenting.

Where I live, displays like the mannequins in the background are very common. I'm so used to seeing them that I probably wouldn't have batted an eye at the photo if it weren't for the contrast between the lingerie and the girl in the abaya. Usually I can ignore them, but sometimes it's hard to avert one's eyes from images of attractive men and very sexual scenes. Lingerie & anything related to intimacy should be between husband and wife, not put on display in malls where anyone, including young children, can see it.

I guess the benefit of being used to this stuff is that I can pass by most of these displays without really seeing them and being tempted, whereas someone who isn't used to it might have a harder time avoiding looking at it and might be more enticed by the images. Still, it can be frustrating to be surrounded by this stuff all day, every day.

Also, a lot of the displays and advertisements here are even worse than the one in the picture. I'll spare you the details, but suffice to say that modesty is very rare where I live. People seem to have sacrificed true beauty for superficial "beauty".
