Would you wear black for your wedding?

Assalamualaikum and good afternoon everyone.

Talking about wedding dress, wedding gowns or wedding attires, the first thing that comes to mind is WHITE. Yes, most wedding dresses are white but nowadays more and more brides choose other colours. Being creative and adventure.

Even though my wedding dress was in light green, I would still like to wear the abaya that Amal Murad designs above. Simply my style. Gorgeous and beautiful.

Assalamu alaikum Kakchik :o),

yes, definitely the above abaya is gorgeous, but eh...I don't know,I just wouldn't see myself wearing a black dress for my wedding.
Green :) on the other hand seems a nice idea.Maybe you could show us some pictures of your wedding dress :)...
If I'd marry,I'd like to wear a beige or a very light pink dress. And here comes the obvious question =)... My dear Allah, any such plans for me ;)?
Love!

Wa'alaikummussalam Jasmina.
Maybe it would not be suitable to wear black there. It might looks like you're in mourning. But here, it's a bit different, lol. Inshaallah I'll try scanning some of my marriage pictures wearing the light green abaya. I still can wear it because of no change in size. Alhamdulillah.
Beige and light pink sounds great. You'll look beautiful in either one because you are already pretty. Inshaallah... soon you'll find the right man to be your other half.

Nim, I think I know the Artizara one. Both are gorgeous dresses and heavily decorated with beads and sequins. Need to remind the guests not to wear too glam abaya on the special day, lol. Insyaallah nim akan sampai harinya nanti.

Wa'alaikummussalam Nurul. I believe this one is already bling2 hehe. Just add more on the front if you prefer more glamour.

I am not married but I would certainly be attracted to the colour black as an option or work in as I adore black and also like Violet2Bloom says, I wear abayya:)

Wa'alaikummussalam NoR.
Thanks NoR. Most people would choose brighter colors maybe because the bride would shines more than others.

naz, it's gorgeous right? are you referring to the white caftan with black embroideries? if that one, i think it will look stunning on you sis.

Wa'alaikummussalam cik pharmacist to be. hehe, I can understand that. no (Malay) mothers would allow her daughter to wear black on her wedding day especially during nikah. even back then when I chose to wear light (mosty) green the whole family objected but I am a debater so I have some secret skill to sway their opinion hehe.

Wa'alaikummussalam waheeda.
Yes, I remember looking at your wedding photos in some newspaper and I told a few friends that you look so good in the black jilbab. Well, back then I was thinking of sharing those photos here but at the back of my mind, I was also thinking about you and hubby so I hold on that thought. The first time I saw you wearing abaya I was like, "alhamdulillah... she's improving everyday". Abaya is our life hehe.

Blue Pearl, black can be adventuresome for a wedding day. Look at Violet2Bloom, if she can make it happen, maybe you can too. The abaya above can be your inspiration sis.

one thing for sure..jgn baju lg expensive dr lain2nyer. hahaha. plus-kalau simple, gorgeous and black-even lps kawen pn bley pakai lg...a good investment kan.i like vintage wedding dress cam org putih zaman dulu2..lace and simple or minimalist. my family jenis x der upacara sanding2-(kecuali kakak sulung yg sanding kat belah lelaki-atas permintaan famili abg ipar :D)so sallunyer x meriah sgt kawen..jamuan mkn jer.

Salam kak Chik,

If I have the chance I would love to wear black abayas for my wedding but back then in those days 13 years ago, I guess things would seems awkward when bride wore black and bridegroom laces their appearance with black thobe..but as time passes by our thinking becoming more acceptable on Arabic dresses.
Even though I might not have the chances but perhaps my daughter could fulfill my dream..Hopefully it's not my wishful thinking..:-)

heee wani mmg dh lama terasa nak wear black abaya for wedding ;)

min, insyaallah baju pengantin jika dibajet dgn betul harganya akan reasonable. Lainlah kalau penganting nak memenuhinya dengan hiasan yg sarat. ha'ah carilah baju yg boleh dipakai slps kahwin, macam kakchik hehe. min ni peminat vintage rupanya. famili kakchik pun tak buat adat2 bersanding semua tu. kita buat yg wajib mengikut Islam je. majlis tetap meriah insyaallah.

waheeda, I try not to take advantage of others situation unless I am allowed.

Wa'alaikummussalam Azah.
Yes, I think it would be awkward to wear a black wedding dress in those days. However time has change and people's opinion, trends and fashion also change. Nowadays if you are creative you can wear any colours and others just try to accept it although they might complaint silently. :) Insyaallah when the time comes for your daughter to get married, it will be different.
