When You Are in a Hurry

Assalamualaikum dear friends and good afternoon dear readers.

Sometimes you just don't have enough time to prepare a complete meal for your spouse especially in the morning and even for dinner. If you have to juggle between office job, bookshop, the house and also the university, cooking tend to be a bit of a hassle.

So, just cook something easy and can be ready in just a few minutes.

This is how I do it.

Breakfast: Express Pizza

Dinner: Nasi Goreng (Fried Rice)

Edited with this recipe for basic fried rice.
Serves 4 to 6

This is a basic recipe for fried rice that you can add to as desired. If adding other ingredients, increase the number of eggs to 3.

Ingredients:
  • 1 - 2 green onions, as desired
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Pepper to taste
  • 4 tablespoons oil for stir-frying, or as needed
  • 4 cups cold cooked rice
  • 1 - 2 tablespoons light soy sauce or oyster sauce, as desired
  • Mix vegetables as much as you like
Preparation:
  • Wash and finely chop the green onion. Lightly beat the eggs with the salt and pepper.
  • Heat a wok or frying pan and add 2 tablespoons oil. When the oil is hot, add the eggs. Cook, stirring, until they are lightly scrambled but not too dry. Remove the eggs and clean out the pan.
  • Add 2 tablespoons oil. Add the rice. Stir-fry for a few minutes, using  a wooden spoon to break it apart. Stir in the soy sauce or oyster sauce as desired.
  • When the rice is heated through, add the scrambled egg back into the pan. Mix thoroughly. Mix in the vegetables. Stir in the green onion. Serve hot.

Alhamdulillah that I get no complaint from the other side of the table.

Assalamualaikum Kak Chik,

My mum makes express pizza too! Just that she uses french loaf and leave it to us to place whatever toppings we like.

An advice mum likes to repeat every now and then is ... "No matter how busy and tired u r ... always prepare something for ur husband regardless how simple it is.". :)

Wa'alaikummussalam Hajar.

My mum loves french loaf but she dip it in tea. The rest of us prefer the sandwich bread :)

Your mum is very wise. It's true and you always be rewarded in a sense that Husband loves you more hehe.

Assalamualaikum wbt
In this rat race world, the most important thing is simple and concise. We have to squeeze ourselves as long everything is settle...

NoR, both of them are easy to make, tasty and yummy.

Nawal, the dinner dish is called Nasi Goreng in Malay or Fried Rice. There are varieties of fried rice in Malaysia. The one that I've made is just my version. If you'd like to try I've edited my post and paste a recipe there. It's not mine but basically, that's how I made the Nasi Goreng. Try it.

Wa'alaikummussalam tajnur.
Simple and concise is tolerable but sometimes family needs more than that. Everything's should be well settled not just settled, then we find satisfaction.
