Shopping for hijabs

Assalamualaikum.

Look at the hijabs around me.

Once in a while I need to drop by a hijab store nearby my workplace to place a bulk order. I love browsing through the many hijabs hanging on the wall and also on the rounding hangers that you can see standing beside me. Every time I visit this shop I wish I can spare more than half an hour to just look around. But my lunch hour is only one hour and driving to the shop and back to the office usually use 10 - 20 min. So, rush, rush.

It is a hijab heaven. The shop offers a variety of hijabs such as the common instant hijabs that are loved by many Malaysian women, all kind of shawls, pashminas, square hijabs big and small, and many different selection of inners/bonnets/underscarves. I went there to buy pashminas or big square hijabs.

This shop sells wholesale and it is my supplier for hijabs. I choose to sell only big size hijabs which I'm sure will give a wider coverage of our upper body. At least below the breasts. With the hope that my customers would wear the hijab bigger and longer.

Selling Islamic clothing is good and it will be great if the clothing can help Muslim women to practice covering their body properly (according to the Islamic dress code for women). I always remind myself to only sell clothing which can make women look modest, feel modest. Modest in an Islamic way.

After choosing the hijabs that I want to order in bulk, I went home with this multicolored pashmina.

Just MYR20.00.

Insyaallah I'll be selling this kind of pashmina soon. The order has been made and now is the time to patiently wait for the shipment to arrive. Insyaallah.

Busy with customer's orders, revision and events

Assalamualaikum dear friends,

Billboard welcoming Ramadhan around Kelantan.

I'm sorry for not writing anything for three days. And I also haven't answered all the comments for the previous posts. And to my friend, C please forgive me for not sending my reply for the interview yet. 

Of  course there are reasons for this.

1. I recieved 3 abayat shipment from Dubai and Jeddah which means that I am busy recording, tagging, packing and sending them to many waiting customers all over Malaysia. Phew! Working alone with a little help from my bookshop's assistants is very very tiring.

2. Ramadhan is coming and I have promised myself that I'll finish my online business dealings before August 15. However it's not impossible. But I have informed my customers that I will not take any new orders this month except for the ones that are pending from last month. Need to clear them out and focus my time more on Ramadhan.

3. Final exam will starts on August 15. Yes, this is my last semester at the Open University Malaysia. I'll be a graduate in October, insyaallah. Please pray for me to have a healthy body, strong iman and clear mind to revise my studies before the exam.

4. I've got a new Boss at work. And it means that he needs lots of briefing, many presentations, several meetings and I am responsible to assist him because for almost 4 years, I've been shouldering the Director's job while waiting for the spot to be filled. I know my burden will be lessen after this and I'm feeling happy with this development. Meanwhile, I have to endure a bit. It's okay.

Lastly, I'd like to ask everyone's forgiveness for whatever wrongs that I've done theough my blog. Hopefully you'll forgive me because I've just started a new 'record book' last month and I wish that more good deeds is written and will be written in it.

The waiting is over.

It finally arrived at my door. Safe and sound.

Assalamualaikum and peace.

I haven't posted anything about my new abaya since early this year. It's because I haven't bought any till the middle of last March. I think I've shared the picture of this abaya. It's a birthday present that I cherished so much. Thank you to Allah The Almighty who make this abaya, mine.

As said by a friend of mine, ever since wearing the black abayaat, there are no more feeling of wearing other type of abaya, jubah or jilbab. No more interest in them. Yes, she is correct. Same goes with me. I don't think I'll change to colored abaya except for a few which I get as sample. I need to sample them so that I'll know their pros and cons before promoting them to customers.

Anyway, back to the abaya above, today, I wore it to work! Yes, after asking all the family members whether it looks too flashy or not. Since everyone said that it just look like my usual abaya, I opted to wear it. Everything is great except that the sleeves are a bit disturbing when you have to use lots of hands works. Apart from that, the abaya is just great.

Assalamualaikum everyone!

Yesterday, my friends and I  went to KBTC for lunch and we were planning to try the menu at the new branch of Radix Chicken House, a subsidiary company of HPA Industries, a Muslim owned multi-companies. Of course a HALAL food company.

Actually, at the back of my mind, I really want to drop by an online friend's boutique which I listed her webshop's link under Muslim's Shops. I knew that she has opened a new branch in KBTC a few months ago, so why not give it a visit. Who knows, I might get the opportunity to meet the owner, Sue.

That's the boutique, I think on the 1st. or 2nd. floor of KBTC. A pinkish, gurly yet elegant shop. I did stopped for a while and chit-chat with her staffs and maybe her friend who was also looking at some clothes. Not so lucky because Sue was not in KB. Well, it's okay... but I think Sue's staffs might be a bit surprised because a niqabi get in and claimed that she knows the owner, lol.

Anyway, congratulations to Sue for the opening of her 2nd. boutique.

We then went to RCH at the 3rd. floor of that business center and have a delightful lunch. You go RCH! I'm sure one day soon, you'll be on par with KFC and McD.

The Niqabi Millionaire, Rozita Ibrahim

Last year if you still remember, I've written a post about the hijrah of a dedicated woman, Rozita Ibrahim who is a cosmetics entrepreneur turns millionaire and became a niqabi a year ago. This is the recent pictures of her which I've snapped from a local magazine, Harmoni, published this month.

I'm getting better from my flu fever, alhamdulillah. Thanks for all the du'a and well wishes. Hopefully by tomorrow I'll be fully recovered, insyaAllah.

Tonight, once again I'm going to just share some photos of certain clothes shop that I found interesting for you to visit if you visit Kelantan.

For this entry, I present to you BUTIK GEMALAI or Gemalai Boutique.

Actually this boutique is my neighboring shop, just 2 doors on the right side of my bookshop. They sell all kind of silk materials either cheap or expensive. I think there are chiffon too because the fabric looks so sheer, very transparent yet so soft. Let's take a look at a different shot of this shop.

I'm aiming for 2 pairs of clothes there but it's not in this picture...

 

Ready-made dresses for children and adult.

Well, since I've been wearing jilbab and abayaat almost half of my age, printed clothes can't really entice me anymore. I see many gorgeous clothes but think nothing of it but bring me to a variety of black soft, smooth, silky material, I'm sold. In this shop, I'm still aiming but not shooting yet, lol.

 

Gorgeous kebayas, ONLY RM150 each. "Very cheap...", said the salesgirl, hmmm...

If you love kebaya, Gemalai have a few selected ones for you to choose. Please remember, some kebayas are made to fit your body shape and made from transparent material, so I think this type of kebaya is not suitable to wear in public. Wear a looser kebaya instead like, kebarung (kebaya + baju kurung).

 

Many choices.

The owner of this boutique-shop is a guy who comes to monitor his employees every week. He's a rather nice guy looking from the way he treated his staffs. The staffs are friendly and rather down-to-earth. I think my assistant has already befriended all the staffs there.

 

Just RM80.00 for a pair of ready-made dress. 

Try it and if you find the size is right, the colour is good, the covering of the aurah is covered, and the price is reasonable, why not buy it?

I want to stock up some Malaysian maps

Just now, a European couple from Renaissance Hotel came looking for a Malaysian map. Oh, I feel so disappointed because we don't have them. I don't even think of selling maps before because previously my bookshop was located a bit far from tourist center. I should have think about this earlier. Right now, we are very near to the hotel and I forgot about MAPS!

Allah has really helps me in getting better in this business and He is showing me more ways of making this works. Alhamdulillah. We are going to stock up some maps ASAP. I've seen a few tourist visiting a few shops in this mall. Hopefully they'll visit MariBaca, at least to rent a novel or two. I really want to make some new friends. I WANT TO PRACTICE MY ENGLISH.

Ahhh... it makes me feel so happy just by talking in English with them. My tongue does not twisted when I vocalized the words and I did not falter at all. Alhamdulillah... hehe. I'm so happy. Don't blame me. I just do not want my fluency in this second language decrease.

So... now I have to look for a map supplier. Hopefully I can find one who can supply me maps at a cheap price. Well, at least reasonable and of good quality.

I've been looking for a few nice abaya designs for my new tailor made abayaat. InsyaAllah I'm sending my tailor a bundle of black clothes to make 3 new abayaat. I'm just trying my local dressmaker's skills in making abayaat. If they can make me very good abayaat, insyaAllah I will have a bright future for my project. Can't really share about that yet.

Is there anyone who knows what's the best black material for making abayaat for Malaysia climate? I've been wearing many abayaat from Dubai and so far, they suit me just fine in this weather but local people are being sceptically about it. You know, try it first and then you'll know.

I'm surveying for the most suitable materials in a few local fabric dealers and planning to propose a few sample abayaat for customers. I will post about it here when everything is ready. Mean while, just keep looking.

Assalamualaikum to all friends and readers.

I'm so thankful to all of you who have spared some time to visit KakChik's Wardrobe. As you already know, I'm still busy with my bookshop and have been neglecting the fashion world. I haven't made any new set at Polyvore, I couldn't find time to write anything about Muslimah fashion even though I have a few ideas.

Anyway, my bookshop is now almost 60% ready but it was plan to be officially opened in early February. Right now, I still have many small details that I have to take care so that when the bookshop is open, it will run efficiently. InsyaAllah.

Too busy

Assalamualaikum wr wbt to all my friends and readers.

It is already the 3rd. day of January and I haven't write anything new for the past 2 days. Well... my life is like a rolling roller coaters that never stop. Whenever I have time to sit down and be online, my mind goes blank and I'm out of ideas. What I always do when I'm like that is sign in to facebook, because it's easier to update there and also read my friends current updates.

Moving out and moving in my bookshop has taken a lot of my time and energy. Doing physical work is really very tiring. Packing the books neatly into boxes, assembling all the big shelves and furniture together, etc etc... fuh, makes me loose weight. I should be happy isn't it but I can't. Too tired to even smile.

I need hugs.

I need someone to pamper me but that someone is also tired and easily falls asleep. I am left alone to massage my tired bones and also massage his tired bones, hehe.

My bookshop will be in one of the local shopping mall. That's a new beginning for my business and I'm praying very hard that Allah will bless what I'm doing because this business's main objective is to encourage people to read more and adopt reading aloud in their family. I'm gonna do my best for this business and insyaAllah this time my husband will be helping me as the shop manager.

Last night, we managed to make 2 lorry trips between the previous shop to the new one and insyaAllah this afternoon, another 2 trips will completely finish the process. It's hard but Allah has provided us with help from my husband's friends, alhamdulillah. They are the one who took care of the heavy duties and I am only doing the supervision and preparing food and drinks for them.

Today's weather looks very cloudy and I'm a bit anxious about the 2 trips. Hopefully my dear husband would solve that out with his friends.

Stop worrying and start living.

Yes, that's what Mr. Carnegie said in his book, How To Stop Worrying And Start Living.

However, after reading the two important chapters, I'm still worry about many things. Maybe not too much but still inside my heart there's some part that doesn't want to stop worrying.

I worry about the final meeting of the Library where I have to present the new year's plan and also answers several questions regarding the account. Oh, I hate it when I am responsible for accounts. I'm not very good with all those confusing calculations. Actually, there someone else doing the day-to-day account but at the end of every month I will have to review everything. I really wish that this Library would hire someone with a good accounting background. This is the downside of working in a small organization. Anyway, the most important thing is I haven't pay all my 'debts' with the Library this year. I tried as best as I could but I know I fail.

Relocating my bookshop also makes me worry. There are so much works to do and I am out of strength and almost out of capital. After more than 4 years doing business at the current location, my bookshop needs a change to survive. The demands from customers and clients could not be fulfilled if I choose to stay there. Crowds are not increasing because of the limited parking space and also the busy traffic in front of the bookshop make it more difficult for customers to come. Their complains are mostly about the parking space and also the location. Next week, before 31st. Dec come, we have to clean up everything and move out from there and move into the new premise in one of the shopping mall in town. I'm scratching my head regarding this move yet, I'm gonna stand firm with my decision. May Allah help me.

More worries are from the accumulated debts with my books suppliers. Currently there are 6 suppliers waiting for me to pay them. I try paying them every month as much as I can but it's so hard to pay up every thing. I hate having debts with people. These suppliers sent me books almost every months although I prefer they wait for my orders first but I know they believe in me that's why they did that. Anyway, because of that, I end up with debts, quite a lot. One publisher is very considerate, I'm allowed to return books that are not sold. I'm so thankful to the company. May Allah bless them.

Building a new home is giving me a lot of worries. My home-loan's source is FAMA abbreviation of father and mother. It's difficult to apply for loans from bank because both me and husband are not Government workers. I can apply but the loan rates are way higher than the rates for government staff. It's gonna be a burden. The building of the house started during Ramadhan 1429 and it should be finish around June this year. Sadly, it takes longer than that and until today, I'm still living with my parent and the house is waiting for the windows to be fitted in and also electricity. *Sigh*

So, Mr. Carnegie, I will continue reading the next chapter while I try doing your suggestions. Hopefully with my determination and Allah's help, I can stop all these worries and face all the challenges with a wise and stable mind.

O Allah! Please give me strength.

O Allah! Please help me overcome all these challenges with good outcomes.

The abayat is here and let's have our breakfast

Assalamualaikum and a very good morning everyone!

Alhamdulillah we are blessed again with a new day and hopefully a wonderful one till the end of day. An hour ago my husband and I went to collect our package that have arrived from Dubai. You know... those abayat... yes, the second purchase of 20 pieces of beautiful abayat have safely arrived at my house. FYI, I don't have a real shop yet, for the time being my goods will be arranged nicely in order at one corner of my bedroom. I'm sorry "books" because you would have to spare some space for the abayat now.

As you can guess, I just can't wait to unwrapped the package but I cooled down my eagerness and do the Subh prayer first with as much concentration as I can. I think I thanked Allah so much for making the journey of my package safe from Dubai-Kuala Lumpur-Bangi-Kota Bharu. InsyaAllah my customers who are waiting for their abayat (I think they planned to wear it for Eid) will received them by tomorrow. I shall post them today, got to fulfilled my promise to them. Keeping our promise is wajib.

I've unpacked or unwrapped the package and ... MashaAllah....I'm so so glad to say all of the abayat are made to satisfaction. Need to thank Nani for her efficient services and also her patience with me. Thank you very much Nani, they are gorgeous yet modest!

Upon looking at the clock, I have to leave the abayat at the side for a while and make coffee for dear husband. In this cold and rainy weather, drinking hot coffee and eating sweet hot food is very welcoming. However, I haven't cooked anything yet so just find two packets of Mochachips and gonna enjoy them with my husband.

Mmmm.... they are yummy!

Have you ever eat this cookies? Alhamdulillah there are plenty of Halal biscuits and cookies in Malaysia. Hopefully there are plenty at your place too. Whenever I ate something ready-made which was bought at the supermarket, deli or 24 hours store, I always thought about my sisters who are not so lucky and have difficult access to Halal food. Maybe in todays advance world, Halal products can easily be found in every countries.

I'm thankful for this blessings of Allah and I hope everyone in this world is entitled to clean, healthy food and better if it is Halal. While I'm enjoying this cookies, someone, somewhere is hungry and suffering from hunger. My heart goes to them and I pray to Allah for their rezki (I don't know how to translate this Arabic word to English) and really hope that their hunger will be appeased.

And starting from today I'm gonna quote the translation of an ayat from the Qur'an that I open randomly. Today's translation is from Surah Yunus, verse 24.

24. The likeness of the life on this world is as the water which We send down from the sky, causing all kinds of plants to grow which men and cattle eat; so much so that when the land puts on its golden raiment and is adorned, and its owners think that they are masters over it, there comes to it Our Command by night or by day, so We make it like a clean-mown harvest, as if it had not been there the day before. Thus do We explain the signs for people who reflect.

Alhamdulillah, the wait is over.

Assalamualaikum dear friends and readers.

Abayat still in the sorting process.

Good news everyone! The second shipment of abayat from Dubai has arrived yesterday. Alhamdulillah. I'm so glad that it arrived when I was at home. I would be too anxious to open the box if I was at work.

So, yesterday afternoon, I've filled my time with cataloging the new stocks, tagging them with namecode and price and also taking pictures for all of them. Phewww... what a tiring day. I slept late last night to make sure all the pre-orders are packed and ready to send to customers. As a result, I come to work with sleepy eyes and aching shoulder-blades because I was stooping so much while doing all the works. Anyway, I am happy, hehe.

InsyaAllah by tonight all pictures with details will be uploaded into ABAYA ELEGAN bloshop and you are welcome to have a look and maybe place an order :D .

A Millionaire Who Makes A Change

Assalamualaikum and happy weekend everyone.

I was thinking about writing something about Mrs. Rozita Ibrahim ever since I know that she's now donning the niqab and black abaya. Actually she has already make the changes to her attire a few months ago. This woman is a well known cosmetics millionaire in Malaysia. She owns a few companies under her name and succeeded in most of them.

According to her main website SENDAYU TINGGI, Mrs. Rozita who was a rubber tapper turn entrepreneur and make a lot of changes in her life and the people around her also a big part of Malaysian. She was a single mother who has done everything she can to make sure that her children can grow up and live a better life. A couple of divorces later while struggling to build her life and career, she is now a well known successful women icon in Malaysia.

Her knowledge in herbs has been the starting point of change in her life. Starting with MYR400 she invest it in her herbs experiments by getting her own body fat for 3 times and then get thin again to her ideal measurement. This is a real woman who's willing to sacrifice her own body to create several products that have been helping many obese women in Malaysia to have a healthy body.

After 5 years, her main company is now have 9 subcompanies which sell varieties of products such as cosmetics, clothes, poultry produce and also consultancy in helping new enterpreneur. What a great woman! And all the successes have made her a famous enterpreneur and increase her status in Malaysia. BUT... she found that her life still feel empty and not complete. She said that she can sensed that whenever people saee her driving her 1 million ringgit car or compliment on her beauty, she becomes more proud and riya'.

She then went to Makkah for her umrah and there she had a strange dream. In that dream a voice asked her to find certain surah in the Noble Qur'an. When she get back she immediately search for the surah and get a reminder that when a person receive a hidayah from Allah but she/he ignores it, she/he might not receive it anymore. That ayat became her turning point and nowadays she's a better woman as a Muslimah. She does not want people to recognize her because of her wealth and fame anymore. And by that she add new items to her wardrobe - abayat and niqab.

She said, now she find peace and she has remarries and live her life full with meaningful and religious activities with her family and the community near her home. I'm so proud of this enigmatic woman.

And, sorry, I don't have any bigger picture of her in niqab.

My Abaya Business is Up and Running

Assalamualaikum dear friends. I'd like to share my good news with you and I hope it will also makes you happy just like me and partner.

My abaya business is now officially launched starting from today. Hopefully you can pay a visit to my abaya blogshop but please excuse for the using of Malay language there. As for the time being, my blogshop caters only for customers from Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei.

Since this business is using so much capital I would do my best to make sure that it is profitable, all because I believe that by wearing abaya or any kind of dress that looks the same ( e.g. jubah, jilbab and jelabiya), Muslim women might feel more modest in their way of dressing. At the same time they can still be elegant and fashionable in accordance to the Islamic dress code.

This kind of dress hopefully will reminds us Muslim women to always remember the haya' (almost like shyness but this Arabic word has a better and broader meaning) in our daily life.

All these pictures were snapped from our local muslimah's magazine, ANIS of the current issue. Inside this month issue, it features abayat from our Malaysian abaya supplier known as Jalinan Timur Enterprise located in Gombak, Selangor.

I've search for their blogsite and found that they have quite some interesting abayat, mostly imported from the Gulf countries such as Jordan, Syria, KSA and also UAE.

 

And they are looking for resellers. I might contact them for more info. This is interesting.

The material is crepe, very light and comfy. I have a few others bought from the same boutique and the same material. Close front type. Has a pocket at the right side. Not suitable for breastfeeding mom. Selling price is MYR99.00 including postage.

Open front abaya (at the side). Material is a bit heavy. Embroidery is very neat and pretty. Never worn because I simply don't have time to alter it. It's been inside the wardrobe since last year. I bought this abaya for someone else but in the last minutes she back off. Sad isn't it. Anyway, after I tried it, it suits me rather well and I don't need any alteration, provided I walk on wedges or high heel when I wear it. The material is quite heavy but it falls down nicely over your body (mine ler..) Worn it twice for special functions, iftaar with the staff and also the third day of Syawal for open house visit. Bought at MYR 139.00 but I'm letting it goes at MYR100.00. It has decoration made from sequines and small beads. Why I'm selling it? I don't feel like it belongs to me, hehe. You know... I bought it for someone else. [actually this one is XS, just saw the size tag]

Oh, I still remember falling in love with this abaya instantly when I saw it. That was during my spending spree and I was collecting abayat weekly (just kidding). I just sewed a few inches of the hem and it's ready for me to wear. The material is kind of gauzy but don't worry you won't be scratchy wearing it, hehe. I'm letting it go because someone said, the cutting does not suits me and I'm very particular about this. I don't want any body shape showing when wearing my clothes. She also said, it will be better if I'm taller, heh! Yeah, she's probably right. I know when I'm wrong. So, grab this second hand abaya at just MYR 45.00. Only worn once! I bought this abaya also during a clearance sale. The sale price was MYR65.00 and I already worn this abaya twice. I like it very much but I'm not very comfortable wearing it because it's large for me and rather long in height. Yes, size S is not for me but I still wore it twice with high heels, to a special function, LOL. Since I love it and don't want to see it gone to waste, I'm letting it go at MYR 48.00 including postage. Oh, it has tassles at the sleeves and also near the knee part. The abaya looks like an open front abaya but actually it's a two-layer abaya with zipper at the back.
