Imagine stepping outside every day – your body and face in complete concealment from the rest of the world, with only a slit exposing your eyes to see where you are going. A life devoted to the constant worship of God, through extremely modest dressing.

This is the life that twenty-six-year-old Noor B. lives every day. This is the life of a niqaabi (nɪˈkɑːbee), a woman who wears the niqaab or Islamic face veil.
It is lunch time and Noor is on break from the weekend intensive seminar she is taking entitled: Islamic Code of Ethics. The lounge is flooded with young women: some wearing head scarves and jeans, others robed with complete face veils. Greetings of Assalamu Alaykum (Peace be upon you) are exchanged as the women eat and eagerly discuss the new information they have acquired from the seminar.
Noor sits with her back facing the exit door. She does not want to take the chance of a man seeing her face when the door opens. She explains that it is generally okay to take off her veil in front of other Muslim women and close male relatives, but in this instance she was in a public area and did not want to take a risk.
Dressed in an all black niqaab and jilbaab (a looser outer garment that covers the entirety of a woman’s body) all I can see are the creases on the corner of her eyes indicating her nervous smile. She does not think she is worthy of being interviewed and apologizes for eating while I conduct the interview. She lifts the black veil, takes a bite of her egg roll and then lets the veil fall back in its place as she finishes chewing. She makes sure to tell me one of her biggest challenges is eating. “It’s so hard!” And with the same process of lifting her veil for each bite, one can only imagine how tedious it can be.
Eating is not her only problem though, as she tells me that finding places to purchase her niqaabs and jilbaabs are not easy, especially given her petite figure. “I got this one from Saudi Arabia, and I had to hem it like 6-inches! …And when I shop in the [Islamic] stores in Brooklyn, they are so expensive.” She tells me she likes the black ones because they draw less attention than a brightly colored outfit would.
Noor began wearing the niqaab six months ago when she went to Mecca for ‘Umrah, a pilgrimage that can be performed any time throughout the year. “Seeing all these women in niqaab, I was like, what am I doing?” So she took the next step – completely veiling her face and body. When she came back to her hometown of Brooklyn, NY she received mixed reactions.
It was no surprise to Noor’s mother who is already a niqaabi, but her friends were not as supportive. “I had friends who didn’t understand the super-change I was going through. It was mostly my non Muslim and non practicing Muslim friends who were surprised.” Although she has remained sociable with her friends, she admits these friendships are not the way they used to be.
She explains that the issue of niqaab as an obligation or an option has been the crux of the debate amongst Islamic scholars. “But if you study the Qur’an [Holy Book in Islam] and the Sunnah [the examples/teachings of the Prophet Muhammad], we find that Allah commands the wives of the Prophet to cover themselves.” She tells me the wives of the Prophet were considered the best and purest women of all time, and covering was considered an act of modesty and submission to God’s command. “If this act of veiling was made obligatory for the best women ever created, then it must be fard (obligatory) for us… What would lead me to believe I’m better than them?”
She then begins to recall the moments that led to her decision of veiling. “Another turning point in my life was a [marriage] proposal that I received. The guy wanted to marry a niqaabi woman and my initial reaction was: I am not the one you want.” But after reading up on the issues and reasoning behind the niqaab, something changed, “…and I found this was something that I wanted to do.” She explains it was something of an epiphany, and this feeling of increased faith is what prepared her for a life changing alteration.
We briefly shift into the topic of marriage and she tells me that young Muslims are always eager to marry. “It’s what prevents lusts from turning into immoral acts, like premarital sex… Anything that leads to desire, even too much looking [at the opposite sex] is considered unrighteous and un-Islamic.” This is why the marriage proposal from a man she did not know did not seem unusual or out of the ordinary. She tells me the criteria for Islamic marriages is that the aspiring spouse should be very religious. “He knew my dad, and asked for my hand in marriage…and that was it.”
Noor says she disagrees with people who say change is gradual, because for her, change happened almost instantaneously. “I went from wearing the hijaab (Islamic head scarf) with fitted jeans, to wearing the niqaab and big jilbaabs… [Before], I never even studied Islam when I was in hijaab.” And in this short transition period, she recalls the longing she felt to fulfill her duty as a Muslim woman. “Every time I saw a niqaabi I was jealous. I would stare at each and every one of them thinking, why can’t I please Allah (God) the way she pleases Allah?”

This interview was conducted in the early months of 2008. In July of 2009, Sr. Noor Bhuiyan passed away. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’oon – to Allah we belong and to Him we return. May Allah have mercy on her soul, and grant her entrance into the highest level of paradise. May her deeds and her words, and her life and her death, be an example and inspiration for us all.

Our Simple Dinner
White rice + fried chicken fritters + vege in coconut gravy + mango with hot chilli
Assalamualaikum and good evening to all dear friends and readers.
May Allah bless us with good health, wise mind, freedom to practice our deen and happiness. O Allah! Please save our friends of Mavi Marmara from the evil kufr, Israel laknatullah.
As I think most of us right now are thinking, wondering and praying for the safety of the humanitarian aid flotilla members, I'd like to remind that, our body need food for energy. Energy means we can do lots of work for ourselves, our families, our friends, our communities and of course OUR RELIGION.
Please spare some time to eat dinner even as simple as ours. And pray that all around the world everyone is able to eat healthy food. Let's be thankful and grateful to Allah for our worldly luxury as in food. We are so blessed while some of us are not so lucky. Alhamdulillah, praise be to Allah.

Morning Shift
Assalamualaikum and good morning everyone.
This is very comforting and cool... No one is at the Family Area now and I am the only person here. Where are those regulars who always comes in the morning to read the newspapers? I wonder why they haven't arrive yet.
Currently I'm doing my shift at the front table of this Library. I love morning shift because I can focus more on keying in the data for the new books that we've received from Australia last 2 weeks. It's very peaceful and I can hear the sound of the vehicles passing by. I can even hear the air-conditioner's fans working to cool down the Library. Peace.
So peaceful... alhamdulillah.
If anyone ask, I'm not a librarian but I work at a Library. Since this library is a waqf public library, the small number of our staffs have to work in shifts so that everyone will be responsible tending the front desk, greeting the people coming in and out of our library,
Oh, here comes one of the regulars... till then, salam.

Where was I?
Assalamualaikum everyone! I'm back!
Alhamdulillah... after the long absence, I think I am back to this blogging world. Back for good insyaallah. Where was I for the 7 days?
Exam Week
Well, at first I was busy with the semester exam and only have the time to update Keluargaku Sayang. It was quite a stress time for me but I'm glad that I managed to sit for the exam in good condition. Insyaallah I've done my best for all the subjects.
The day I finished the exam, I have a cold attack. Yes, influenza. It started with sneezing, then headache, splitting headache, later on coughing then the whole body sickness. I can point to so many factors contributing to the illness. The weather is too hot, no rain at all and it's almost 40 degrees day and night. And also all the stress from the exam.
So Sick
Working is out of the question. Lying down is too painful for my head, massages only decrease a little of the pain so I persuaded my also sick husband (poor him) to buy some panadol soluble. After 2 days and half, at last the headache was cured. Alhamdulillah.
Home Sweet Home
As I was starting to feel healthy, I have to move out of my current house to my own home. Moving out is another stressful work yet I am quite happy to do it. You know, it has been more than a year for us to wait for our own home. I am really eager to move in. Until today, the process is not complete yet because it's just the two of us doing all the works. Lucky that our home is only a few feet away.
Our book stall at the expo.
Lastly, I have a Personal Blogging Coaching this morning. It was my personal class to personal help my clients to build their own blogs either personal blogs or business blogs. It was a fun class and I have given out my best. I think I achieve 85% of my aim for them. Their blogs are already publish with a beautiful template, some important widgets and both of them said that they understand quite well my coaching. Thank you O Allah!
And the moving out - moving in to our new home is still going on. Till then, see you in my next update. Wassalam.

Exam Week - Blue for motivation.
Assalamualaikum everyone!
Alhamdulillah I have successfully sat for my first exam paper this afternoon. I'm so lucky to be reminded by the Almighty that I my exam starts today not tomorrow. Alhamdulillah. If He didn't reminds me to check for my exam schedule last night, I just can't imagine what would happen to me. Thank you O Allah!
So, at 12 pm, I took my afternoon bath to cool myself down and get ready to go to OUM. I thought there would be lots of cars there but to my utter relief, I can parked my car in front of the building, alhamdulillah. Usually I have to park at the second floor parking lot inside the building. Looks like there won't be many students sitting for exam today.
I checked my exam room and table and took the lift to the 3rd floor. It's still early and there's no one else on that floor. It's good. I do not want any disturbance because I need to take a look at the sample questionnaires before the exam starts. I still have more than one hour to look at them. Sigh.
While doing that I took a few minutes to snap a few pictures of todays attire. Maybe notti netti will come and visit my blog, hehe. Here's the pics.
blue stripy hijab + blue niqab (gift from Michelle) + black abaya + coach handbag (imitation ler...)
and the shoes is a present from my lovely older sister.
Well gurls, I can't get away from wearing my black abaya, I love it so much. However, to avoid getting headache from the heat, oh, it is so hot these days, I seldom wear black hijabs but I match the black abaya with colored cotton 60" hijabs. Alhamdulillah. Still nicely covered.
Regarding today's exam paper, I think I've done my very best for it. Alhamdulillah most of what I've read and do the exercises came out in the questions. Hopefully my answers would be accepted and will grant me an A for the paper. May Allah bless my do'a.
Till then, see you tomorrow after my second paper. Wassalam.

Alhamdulillah...
Assalamualaikum to all dear friends.
Alhamdulillah, I'm back and my health condition is better.
Alhamdulillah, during my absence from KakChik's Wardrobe for almost 4 days, I have went through lots of interesting, wonderful, and sad experiences. Syukr, everything makes my life more happening.
Alhamdulillah, my bookshop is doing better, more customers are coming and make my business grow.
Alhamdulillah, my husband and I went for a movie for the first in our entire life. The film is Ketika Cinta Bertasbih, you can find this in youtube. It's a love story but very Islamic. I've read the novel before I watch the movie. It really touch my heart.
Alhamdulillah, I went shopping with my Mom to help ease her loneliness and tiredness after taking care of the family. She's been taking care of the whole family dedicated and lovingly. She deserves a treat and she got a Bonia handbag.
Alhamdulillah, my new home is 95% complete. I might move in this coming Maulidun Nabi, the same day I'm celebrating my 8th anniversary.

Things you can find around the religious lecture's in KB
Assalamualaikum and good afternoon to all my friends and readers. May all of you are in good health and enjoying your weekend with your loved ones. It's already 1 minute after 4 and soon my working hours will end for today. This is a quick sharing with you of some pictures that I've taken yesterday's morning at the religious lecture in town. Hopefully you'll find this interesting. Let's see what I have:
Food.... food... glorious food. Eh, I mean Kelantanese 'kuih' or sweet delicacies. There are a wide variety of them and here are some examples.
Many clothing stalls are selling the latest design of jubah/jilbab. The stall owner said that this one is the newest. Anyone interested? They are reasonably price, the material is quite soft and it has lots of colours to choose from.
Around the place there are many stalls selling food and one of them is this stall selling Thai food such as the Pulut Ayam (sticky rice eaten with herb fried chicken). I've bought one piece for tasting. The sticky rice has no taste, the fried chicken is rather sweet after I poured the sauce on it. No repeat tasting after this.
I think this food known as Popi Ayam is also originated from Thailand. Looking at it makes me think of wantan, a kind of Chinese food. Sorry, I do not try this one. Maybe next time.
Well, next time I'll share more pictures. Got to go, wassalam.

Masjid of Pulau Melaka
This is Masjid Pulau Melaka, the mosque/masjid of my village/kampung.
Not long ago someone asked me to paste a picture of our 'kampung's masjid because she wanted to see it. While searching my Picasa web album, I found this picture that was taken earlier last year.
This masjid is only a walking distance from my house. From this picture you can only see the men side while the women area is to the left side of this picture.
In front of this masjid are an Islamic secondary school, Maahad Darul Anuar on the right and a tahfiz school on the left, Maahad Tahfiz Nikmatillah. Closer to the women area are the private primary school, SRI al-Anuar and also a kindergarten, Pusat Asuhan Tunas Islam (PASTI).
Frankly speaking, if you are living here, your kid would have a place to study starting from pre-school until secondary/high school. In this small village, we almost have everything for education. Alhamdulillah.
Only that, I only went to the kindy and then to a government schools.

In all the studies that the writer has been quoting, he does not even tell us the exact source of them. Would you agree and accept all the things that he has been saying about 'making love'? Let's see what Muslim scholar has to say about 'making love'.Make love to stay healthy
People who have frequent sex are generally healthier.
Researchers have long known that not only is sex fun (when done with the right person, of course HALAL partners for Muslims), but that people who have frequent sex tend to live longer and have healthier hearts and lower rates of certain cancers.
These studies also show that men with an active sex life have healthier sperm, and sexually active women have fewer menopause symptoms.
In a British study, people who had intercourse twice a week or more were less likely to have heart attacks and other fatal coronary events.
Those who had sex less than once a month had twice the rates of fatal coronary events, compared with those with the highest frequency of intercourse.
In a study published in the journal Biological Psychology, people who had sex more often tended to have lower diastolic blood pressure, or the bottom number in a blood pressure reading.
A French study found that women who have intercourse not at all or infrequently had three times the risk of breast cancer, compared with women who had intercourse more often.
A Minnesota study found that men who’d had intercourse more than 3,000 times in their lives had half the prostate cancer risk of those who had not.
While it’s not clear why this would be true, studies have found that men who had more intercourse tended to have better prostate function and eliminated more waste products in their semen.
A study of healthy German adults revealed that men and women who had sex more frequently tended to be slimmer than folks who didn’t have as much sex.
Sex burns 50 to 60 calories per encounter, so sex three times a week for a month would burn about 700 calories or the equivalent of jogging about seven miles.
A group of men being treated for erectile problems saw greater increases in testosterone when, along with the treatments, they had frequent sex.
Specifically, men who had sex at least eight times per month had greater increases than those who had sex less than eight times per month.
In three studies, men who had frequent intercourse had a higher volume of semen, a higher sperm count and a higher percentage of healthier sperm, compared with men who tended to participate in other sexual activities.

Eminent Muslim scholar Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi:I'm just sharing this here because a few days ago I've been hearing a lot about the misunderstood physical relationship between a husband and his wife although they've been married for many years already.
"The Qur'an emphasizes the spiritual objectives of marriage, making them the foundations of marital life. These objectives are realized in the peace of mind which comes through wholesome sexual experience with the spouse whom one loves, in the enlargement of the circle of love and affection between the two families united through marriage, and in the nurturing of affection and tenderness among the children under the loving care of their parents. These are the objectives mentioned by Allah in the verse that reads: "And among His signs is that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that you may dwell with them in tranquility, and He has put love and mercy between you. Indeed, in this are signs for those who reflect." (Ar-Rum: 21)
It is permissible for the husband and wife to enjoy having sexual intercourse in the way they like as long as they avoid that which is unlawful. The husband and wife are absolutely permitted to be fully naked in each others presence and there is nothing wrong in looking at each others private parts and sleeping nude with each other.
{And those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts, from illegal sexual acts). Except from their wives or (the captives and slaves) that their right hands possess, for then, they are free from blame}, [Soorah al-Mu.minoon, Aayaat 5-6]
Allah Almighty says in Holy Quran chapter number 2 Al-Baqarah, verse number 222 and 223:
"They ask thee concerning women's courses. Say: They are a hurt and a pollution: So keep away from women in their courses, and do not approach them until they are clean. But when they have purified themselves, ye may approach them as ordained for you by Allah. For Allah loves those who turn to Him constantly; and He loves those who keep themselves pure and clean.
Your wives are as a tilth unto you; so approach your tilth when or how ye will; but do some good act for your souls beforehand; and fear God. And know that ye are to meet Him (in the Hereafter), and give (these) good tidings to those who believe.".(Holy Quran 2:222 and 223)
Based on this, all acts that aim at satisfying and pleasing the spouses are allowable so long as two things are avoided, that is anal sex and having sex with a wife while she is still in her menstruation or post partum bleeding. Hence oral sex is also permissible.
A husband/wife can satisfy her wife/husband through other avenues. A wife can masturbate her husband; similarly a husband is perfectly justified in satisfying his wife through other avenues; he could very well masturbate her; if he were to do this, he is working within the perfect limits of Islam.
A person masturbating on himself/herself is not allowed in Islam except in dire necessity where one fears falling into adultery; marriage is intended in Islam to be a shield against that. So being married, you should never be forced into this option.
In the light of this, scholars maintain that the husband is allowed to enjoy his wife through any means of enjoyment except anal sex, for that is forbidden. It is permissible for a woman to look at the entire body of her husband, and it is permissible for the husband to look at the entire body of his wife and seek pleasure.
The basic ruling regarding the wife seeking pleasure of her husband’s penis is that of permissibility, however, that which is feared is that this act may lead to possible oral intake of sperm or prostatic fluids. The Hanaabilah have indicated the permissibility of a wife kissing her husband’s penis, as is mentioned in ((al-Insaaf)) of al-Maardeenee [Volume 8, Page 33], and this is the opinion of Ibn ‘Aqeel and other than him. Also, Asbagh from the Maalikiyyah has indicated the permissibility of a man kissing his wife’s vagina as is mentioned in ((Tafseer al-Qurtubee)) [Volume 12, Page 231].
May Allah guide us all to the straight path!
Wassalam and Allah Almighty knows best.

Forgive and Forget
That's what I've been taught by my loving parent and also my teachers. So, through all the heart ache, crying alone, crying together, soul searching, heart to heart talking... I've decided to forgive that person and forget the previous event. May Allah give us peace and open up W's heart to be a more mature, wiser and better person.
I do not hold grudges for long because I always believe that Allah love me more if I forgive the wrongdoer. If you know my true nature, you'll believe me. I don't like sadness and I prefer smiles and friendly faces because they make me happy. When you are happy you do things better and full with satisfaction. Compared to that, life would be ... empty... nothing.
Let bygones be bygones.
I forgive you.
This is your second chance. Take it and manipulate it to built a better foundation for our future. We are here because of Allah's will, so we need to carry the amanah that He has bestow upon us. Remember, our mission is to die in husnul khotimah.
I love you.
Ma'assalamah.

Life In Kelantan Is Wonderful!
Assalamualaikum wr wbt. May peace and blessings of Allah be upon us all.
First of all, I'd like to inform you that currently my life is very busy and I could not provide more time to blog. I did update my main blog, Keluargaku Sayang almost daily but KakChik's Wardrobe is a bit lacking. It's like I have one hundred things to do in just a few days before 2009 ended and all of them must be completed nicely. Oh, I wish I am a bionic woman so that I can .... I don't know.
Anyway, my story about life in Malaysia is not finish yet. And I'd like to continue a little bit on the story because I know some of you are waiting for it.
So, in tonight's story I am going to share why I find this place so wonderful. My writing will be brief because I am going to use many images of Kelantan through the lens of a photographer friend, Rizal Tahir. Let's continue ...
Kota Bharu The Islamic City - The State Capital
View from the 18th floor of the Kelantan Trade Center.
PLEASE DO NOT COPY
Although there aren't many high buildings or skyscrapers, I love this state to death because the physical development is in tandem with the moral development of the community. We do have social problems and the State Government is doing its best to overcome them. No place on earth I think is clean from social problems.
Kelantan Trade Center, the newest addition to the Develop With Islam planning of Kelantan.

At the KTC complex, there are condominium, hotel, grand ballroom and shoplots. I've been there twice especially at the ballroom because of a seminar and a fashion show.
The Dataran Rehal is the place where almost every visitors and tourist like to visit.
PLEASE DO NOT COPY
It's like a big square block of land filled with parking lots for any kind of vehicles except for aeroplanes, surrounded with big brown stone pillars that have a replica of an open Qur'an on top of them. I have some pictures taken here with my niece Iffah last year but I coundn't find the album.
Praying terawikh under the big tents in town.
PLEASE DO NOT COPY
Alhamdulillah, ever since the State was ruled by the Pan Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), Kelantan has introduce many policies which put Islam to the front such as:
