At the Bukit Gantang bi-election, Perak

Assalamualaikum and a very good morning everyone. This entry is written life from Bukit Gantang, Perak, Malaysia where we will be having a bi-election on this coming April 7.

I was waiting for my friends to get back from the district office where the process of officially registering the candidates for this bi-election. I wore a lighter purple flowery abaya because the weather was quite warm.

I was interested in what they were discussing behind me but I'm so shy to get involve, hehehe

With my down-to-earth Women Leader of Kelantan, Senator Wan Ubaidah (beside me) having our breakfast before following the procession to the district office. She's a very simple person although she's one of the State's EXCO. I feel so humble sitting beside her.

Me and a friend, Lenny, inside the town mosque after our dawn prayer and waiting for 'solat hajat' and 'solat dhuha'. We were listening to a lecture before the actual program starts at 8.30 am on the road. Allahu Akbar!

This is a bit of my involvement in the political movement in Malaysia.

Let's Wear Our Hijab Properly

Assalamualaikum and a very good day to everyone.

Bismillah.

Pic: Former Malaysian artist, Waheeda looks good in a proper hijab.

I keep thinking about what I should do to help my Muslim sisters who are wearing hijab but NOT WEARING it PROPERLY. Sometimes I saw and met new Muslim converts who adorned PROPER HIJAB not like some of our sisters who are born Muslims. It is more difficult to advice the born Muslims because they would think that I was trying to judge them and by advising them I'm telling everyone that I am better. I'm sorry, that's not my intention. But it is my amanah to help.

Pic: Malay teens look nice in traditional 'baju kurung' and hijab.

I am just trying TO HELP. What's the point of us wearing the hijab but not properly? And I believe that all of us wearing the hijab is to gain Allah's love and rewards. Or... are you just put the hijab on because of everyone is in hijab this days and there are so many different styles to do it?

Come on sisters, are we putting the hijab just because of that? I thought we want TO PLEASE ALLAH.

Pic showing Malaysian Muslimahs wearing proper hijab.

I won't go far. Here, everywhere I can see so many hijabi who are NOT wearing PROPER HIJAB. Remember sisters, there's no point wearing it if it's not proper. Don't say this, "hey... at least I wear hijab." NO, you are lying to yourself. ISLAM teaches us to do things as GOOD as we can do JUST FOR ALLAH's SAKE.

Pic: This is sweet and for me proper and modest.

Please avoid wearing the 'TUDUNG' because:
  • you looks pretty in it
  • someone says it makes you look younger and prettier
  • your parents force you
  • it's a religious activity that you are attending
  • to respect the 'majlis'
  • everyone is wearing it etc etc etc
Pic of a beautiful sisters of a family.

Let's CORRECT OUR INTENTION. It's not right and not good for our Muslim image. PLEASE ... let's wear proper hijab so that ISLAM will not be confused because of our behaviour. Listen to what BABA ALI has to say about this. I agree with what he said.

I LOVE all my Muslim sisters and I really want to help you with this little 'ilm that I know. Although I'm a niqabi, I won't say it is compulsory and just wearing proper hijab with modest clothing, is just fine. Our intention should be just because of HIM.

For the sake of Allah and because I love my sisters in Islam.

The Same Abaya With Different Hijab

Above: Three days ago at Bata shoes-store, KB Mall. I was waiting for my order.

Below: Last night before walking a short distance to my dressmaker's shop to send a few clothes for making a new dresses. (sorry for the blurry pic, my sister was too excited to get hold of my camera)

I really love this new abaya. Not only it fits me nicely but it's really cool. After I washed it the first time I wore it again, hehehe. The abaya material is soft and light and it would be comfortable to wear in our country.

I have one abaya that I seldom wear because it's would make me sweat just after a few minutes I put it on. The material was a bit rough and heavy. Although the design was beautiful but it's not suitable to wear in the humid weather such as in Malaysia. Maybe it would be ok to wear during the raining season because it can protect you from cold but it might coke you because whenever it gets wet, you'd be in trouble. So... it's in the wardrobe now.

Another New Abaya (2)

This is the second abaya of the three that I've bought a few days ago. It's size 'S' and I have to shorten a bit at the hemline. My father really likes this one. He said that I look elegant in it, hahaha. If you happen to like this one, I'm so sorry because it's the LAST ONE, no more stock.

The beads are purle and white while the sequines are black.
The design on the sleeves are simple but I like it.

A close up of the sleeve.

A close up of the pattern at the hemline. Beautiful isn't it?

I still have another one.

My New Abaya (1)

Assalamualaikum everyone. I pray that all of you are in good health and experience wonderful things everyday. I'm currently a bit busy with my preparation for the coming exam but I still spare some time to blog and visit some of you. Just to share my story...

Yesterday, I stumbled upon an Islamic shop (but sadly, the girl at the counter wears skimpy clothing with a 'tudung' on) selling all kinds of hijabs, abayas, jilbabs, accessories and basically things that Muslim women would swoon to have. I was on my way to renew my shop's license at the ROC's office in the 3rd. floor of Seri Mutiara Complex and right after I get out of the lift on that floor, there's this shop, captivating my eyes. Well, the thing is, they hang some really gorgeous abayas in front of their shop. I couldn't resist, I need to stop and have a look.

Since my main intention going there is to renew the license, I leave the shop and force my feet to the ROC. Lucky day! There weren't many people so the process was really quick. I then hurry back to the shop. Wow! They have so many beautiful abayas. I couldn't even choose which one I wanted most. The price is RM99.00 each but the girl said that she'll give a lower price if I buy more. Well, I know... whatever, after an hour of trying and choosing, I grabbed 3 abayas, hehehe.

Alhamdulillah she kept her promise and I got quite a reasonable price for each. Here's one of the abaya that I bought and I'm wearing it today. Don't laugh but this abaya is size SX, that's the right size for me although I can also wear size S with a little renovation (correction: ALTERATION) at the hemline. Don't worry, they have up to size XXL.

When I showed them to my family and I have 5 sisters (currently 4 are at home), a mother who also love my abayas and also 2 'bibik' or maid, all of them wanted to buy my new 'babies'. Oh, NO! Sorry, I can't sell them but if they like I can help to buy for them and I already have a few orders. Hahaha.

Below are the close-up of the busts and the sleeves area and the other one is the hemline (click on image for a bigger shot). Gorgeous design using beads and sequines and the material is really soft and light. Don't ask, I really don't know the type of it. It's a bit difficult to wash though - hand wash is needed if you want the decoration to last longer.

I'll be posting an updates about my other two abayas, just wait and see. If you'd like to get this abaya, I can help you to buy them but you have to cover the postage. anyone interested? They have 6 or 7 different design on the same abaya pattern.

If you are interested, email me at hanniaziz@yahoo.com

FREE Abaya, Anyone?

I was watching my Youtube subscriptions just now and you know what, I came across a video from a sister (KimDoNesia) saying thank you for receiving a FREE ABAYA. That really got me excited. I was like, "what is this all about hah?" so I just do some clicking and later found out about some sisters in the Middle East who are giving away FREE BLACK ABAYA. They will send to anywhere you are. Rich or poor, anyone can get the abaya. Here are a few videos about this cause.

Note: This one is quite funny but I really like it. fatimachan is awesome!

Note: This one is from makeydah, the receiver of the abaya & a really nice hijab. Good for you sis.

Note: I like watching her videos. She's so young, not even 18 yet.

And below is the forwarded letter from them.

Surah: Al-Fatiha

بسم الله الرّحمن الرّحيم

In the Name of Allah the Beneficent, the
Merciful

O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks all over their bodies. That will be better, that they should be known so as not to be annoyed. And Allaah is Ever Oft‑Forgiving, Most Merciful [Quran, Surat al-Ahzaab 33:59]

A wonderful group of sisters from the Middle East have decided to give every Muslimah they possibly can a new abaya for free. May Allah grant them Jennatul Firdous, Ameen! I personally know the sister who organized it, and she told me to mention to all the sisters that your financial position doesn't matter. Rich or poor, you can still benefit from this opportunity, especially our new convert/revert sisters and sisters who live in places where Abayat are hard to find.

All abayat are brand new, black, and simple/plain (no designs at ALL). Don't let your size discourage you from ordering. We have up to XXXL sizes and if you're petite, we can send you the smallest size available & you can go to a seamstress to sew it to your size.

Al7amdulillah - the sisters have collected money to help cover the shipping/handling costs in order to ship the abayat to sisters. However, these funds are quite limited. Therefore, we humbly request that anyone who can afford to cover the cost of shipping kindly do so. This will enable other sisters, who can't financially afford it, to receive a free abaya as well.

If you're interested in receiving a free abaya, please reply back to this youtube account, and I can forward the messages to the moderator of the group (I'll also give you her private email through PM to be able to contact her directly):

-Name

-Address

-Desired Abaya Size (measure your bust/hip/height) -- the best thing would be to send your exact measurements, rather than small, medium, or large

-Also, indicate if you'll pay for the shipping costs

-OPTIONAL: Let us know about yourself! How you heard about us? Languages you know? Wear hijab? Niqab? Khimar? Marital situation? Mommy? New to Islam? This will enable us to send you extra items if they're available (books about Islam, marriage in Islam, hijabs, niqabs, etc.) This info is optional! You do NOT have to include it to get a free abaya.

--Please supply your email address so the moderators can directly contact you Inshallah (this makes it a lot easier on everyone!)

All we ask is two things. First, that you make dua for us. Second, if you benefit from this please email us so we can keep going. Your words & encouragement let us know to continue this project. If we don't get any replies or benefits, then we'll try to find something else to do for the sake of Allah that will help our sisters.

------------------------------------------------

The Fine Print:

*We ask that you do NOT order these abayat for a profit! Fear Allah! If you are going to sell these abayas, please do NOT order because we do NOT approve this. Of course we can't track who does this
but Allah is Al-Baseer (The One who sees everything) & His punishment is worse than anything we can do so please fear Allah and do NOT abuse these sister's kindness!

*If you decide to pay shipping, this will be done by reimbursing us with a cashier's check, money order, or cash for the amount of $12 (twelve dollars) AFTER you have received the abaya.

* Right now we are only able to ship to North America but if you are anywhere else in
the world, reply back & we'll see what we can do.

*We accept no returns! If the abaya doesnt fit you, pass it along to a sister whom it does.

***Last note*** This started as a small project with 5 extra Abayat to be donated. Alhamdulillah, 30 new abayat have been made and delivered around the US so far. Inshallah with more of a demand, the project will grow and many more Abayat will be given for free! So please send your requests, and we will do our best to meet the demand!

Let's help our fellow sisters in Islam dress appropriately! Spread this message!

Jazaki Allah Kheir everyone!
Peace :)

I'd love to have one too.

Do you think they are hijab appropriate?

I snapped them from a local magazine focus on Muslimah teenagers.
I really like all the colours but according to my understanding of HIJAB, these are not hijab appropriate. The clothes are quite shapely and the model is wearing a really tight pants.

I'm afraid this kind of fashion can misleading to the correct dress code for Muslimahs. If you want a better image, just click on the image.

It's the weding season

Assalamualaikum dear friends.

I was kind of busy with my current schedule at work and also the assignments that I have to submit by tomorrow. At the same time, I'm oblige to attend a few walimah invitations whether it's from family of friends.

Picture: My younger sister and her groom on their wedding day 6 years ago.

In Malaysia, weddings are usually held during school holidays and that's what it is now. Starting from last Friday I've been to a few weddings. You can expect nine months from now, many babies will be born, insya-Allah. LOL.

It's a bit uncomfortable though to attend a wedding when it rains almost daily and I'm kind of lacking a suitable attire. I have a new abaya but it needs a little work on it to make it wearable. You know, I'm kind of size SS so cutting a few inches below would be needed.

Actually, I am not really in good spirit during this season, what we the financial crisis and now I have to prepare some wedding presents. I'm in quite a difficult situation now - my house is no where near completion (needs RM20K more to complete) and my debt with my book suppliers also quite high. Hmmm... it's really stressful sometimes. And on top of that, exam is looming but I'm not quite ready yet. That's why I'm not thinking about my wardrobe much.

Anyway, with Polyvore it's like magic. You can create your assemble in a few seconds and walla it's ready. So... here are some example of my suppose attire for attending weddings.

A new abaya addition

Assalamualaikum dear friends.

This is only a short entry. I'd like to tell you that I've just bought a new abaya from Muslimah Fashionista (pic on the left). The price is only RM65 (very cheap) and plus postage the total cost is still reasonable.

Hopefully it'll arrive soon because I'd like to wear it during my special dinner next week.

The abaya looks good to me and I like the design on the chest area and also on the end of the sleeves. It looks like greenish but I don't know. Just wait until it arrive.

Well, that's all.

Niqaabs for Sale

I'll add the details later. Got to go for a while. If you have any question, please email me at hanniaziz@yahoo.com

Picture above and below are of the same niqaab.
This is the biggest niqaab but when you wear it, it looks just fine on you just like my picture below. I'm a small person and it still looks okay. The first layer (on the left side) can be flipped over your head and it falls down nicely at the back.

Me wearing the biggest niqaab.

It's Maulidur Rasul & Our 7th Anniversary

Assalamualaikum everyone.

Salam Maulidur Rasul to all of you my Muslim friends wherever you are. Today, as all of us know is the date of the birthday of our beloved Prophet, Muhammad s.a.w (peace be upon him). It would be good to always remember him with salawat and salam.

Apart from that, today is my 7th wedding anniversary. Alhamdulillah... my husband and I are really thankful that we've been this far together. Insya-Allah we hope to be together as far as we can in this life and the hereafter. May Allah guide us through this life so that our life journey will always be on His path.

We chose 12 Rabiul Awwal as our wedding date 7 years ago was because we would like to celebrate it along with Maulidur Rasul. Insya-Allah we will always celebrate this memorable day with good deeds and memories. Half of the day already spent with my beloved husband doing whatever something special and this afternoon both of us are blogging for a while, later we'll go out for a date.

Hope for the best.

Me and My Shoes

I don't know about you but I sure love shoes and my most favourite kind of shoe is wedges. Yesterday I bought a second wedges from BATA. It looks simple but I chose this one because it's so light and comfortable. Some people said that as a Muslimah you shouldn't be wearing a shoe with heels but since I've never find any concrete dalil about that from the Quran or the Hadith so I think it's okay as long as it does not produce any sound when you are walking.
And this one fits me nicely.

As for now, I have 11 pairs of shoes, mostly black.
Well, for me different kind of shoe has different purposes. Although at home I usually wear my green flip-flop which only cost RM2.90. Bought it at Mydin.

The most important thing is COMFY.

I Have Niqabs for Sale

Assalamualaikum everyone. How's your day? Mine is a bit stressful because I have to juggle between work, business and assignments. And recently I've gone through a bit of self wallowing after a small misunderstanding with ... never mind, everything's settle now, alhamdulillah.

There's no fun in drowning myself in that condition so I just decided to spend my precious time with my Lord, praying and reading the Qur'an and try to understand.

Okay, let's leave that aside and back to the topic.

Do you remember I've mention that I'm going to have a few niqabs for sale? A friend of mine, Kak An has given me 5 niqabs that she got from another accquaintance. All this niqabs came from KSA or was bought in Makkah. The friend is a local supplier of niqabs.

I'm going to post some pictures later showing the niqabs and how do they look like when you wear them. So, stay tune for the update.
